My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I come off as bookish (people literally come up to me on the street and ask if I'm a librarian) but I also like to rock the Alice Cooper impression. I'm close with friends and family. I like a variety of loud and quiet in my life. I'm optimistic but not evangelical about it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm going to grad school in the fall NO WAIT DON'T GO AWAY! It's just a 2 year program, not a PhD, I swear I won't fall into a Dissertation Hole. I had a lot of different directions and careers over the past ten years--teaching ESL, working in publishing, forcing children to do their fractions, volunteering with prisoners and kids and everything in between-- and everything is dovetailing into something really satisfying and excellent.

Before school starts up, I'm trying to finish writing a horror novel. I'm planning some travels. I'm enjoying my friends here in New York, and my family flung up and down the East Coast.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making shortbread. Halloween costumes that make small children cry on the subway. Being a daughter and sister. Eating shortbread. Summarizing without spoiling.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My uncanny resemblance to Rutherford B. Hayes.

I like a nice mix of fiction and non. Favorites recently have been Karen Russell short stories, Rabid: A History of the World's Most Diabolical Virus, Sailor Twain, Last Days. Perennial favorites: Antoine du St. Exupery and Beryl Markham (Aviation memoirs=the best), A.S. Byatt, The Crying of Lot 49, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Little Friend, That Old Ace in The Hole, Look at Me, The Robber Bride, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again, My Family and Other Animals, The Code of the Woosters.

Look man I guess comics are their own thing: Tintin, Brian Michael Bendis, Elektra: Assassin, David B., Leela Corman, Los Bros, old Plastic Man.

Alien, Silence of the Lambs, The Big Lebowski, Drive, Miller's Crossing, John Carpenter's The Thing, The Tall Guy, The Princess Bride, Royal Tannenbaums, Manhunter, The Blues Brothers, Charade, Singin In The Rain, Yojimbo.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Fiona Apple, Nine Inch Nails, New Order, Prince, Talking Heads, Miles Davis, PJ Harvey, The Clash, Violent Femmes, Morphine, The Breeders, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, The Cars.

Cheese, toast, cheese ON toast. Banh mi. Ramen. Those dates wrapped in bacon things. Homemade cookies.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
No.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Telling stories.
Dating as science.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I live in a neighborhood with a ton of my friends, so there's usually a quiet beer to be had, and I love living in New York where I can go to the Rubin for free after 6 and get a cocktail and look at some Himalayan art or see some improv or go to Arthurs for live music even if it means I will be trampled a little bit. I love all the weird theater to be had. I got to see that outdoor Henry the V at Governor's Island last year and run screaming across the field pretending to be the English army in Agincourt. That maybe wasn't typical.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a burial plot in the same cemetery as H.P. Lovecraft.
