Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Beneath the boyish appearance lies something you might not be
expecting. I've lived a lot of chapters in my life, and I've kind
of got "me" down pretty well. It's easy to approach, but difficult
to sum up. You've been warned, and invited.
I've held close to the good parts of my Midwestern upbringing, but
grown into the Bay Area as my home forever. In many ways, this is
the most exciting time of my life, and there's nothing but good
stuff to look forward to.
In my work life, I am a leader, an innovator, a social enterprise
executive, doing some pretty exciting things and working with some
pretty inspiring people. It's the core of my professional identity
and, I hope, will bring some good to life here.
I may live my life with purpose, but I'm not always Mr. Serious...
I'm intense in a crisis but also first to make a joke that takes
everyone to the floor. That's me.
So look, the heart of the matter is: a great connection, in any
form it comes, is life changing. There's so many of you I'd have a
drink with, or share a laugh with...let's find the spark shall we?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Life ain't bad. Aside from doing some exciting stuff at work, I'm
looking for new experiences and places to see, and all around
feeling optimistic about the future.
I've made some pretty great friends in my life, and feel like the
world is wide open to me.
You will never see pictures of me in a desert in August, doing
something cooler than you.
To help my fashion sense, I need a fashion Sensei. This could be
your honor. For you, I shall sweep the leg.
If you think you've summed me up, you're missing the point.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
The list: rock
, eating everything
, home improvement
I'm a competent cook, though it's really more fun as a team sport.
Can you get down in the kitchen? Let's go.
I have long arms. Not only does this make me a better climber, but
it's also good for reaching the highest shelf or grabbing something
far away. And hugs. Really good hugs.
I'm almost inexplicably good with plants. I'm also a very impartial
listener. These aren't really related.
Some say "Dance like no one else is watching." I am the exception
to this rule.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I look young. That isn't a huge source of pride (cuts both ways you
know) but it beats looking old. Besides that, hopefully poise, self
confidence, authenticity, and sense of humor. You decide.
I'm actually a good dresser. I don't know why I dont have photos of
this. Thankfully people tell me I look good in person. I look
sharp. Or almost sharp. I try though. Help me and we are compadre

Holes in My Shoes - the story of Jack Beers. You really gotta see
this piece. Jack lived 100 lives in his 99 years and looked at the
world every day like he couldn't believe they let him in on it.
Searching for Sugar Man - if you haven't seen this documentary, see
it with me. Or don't see it with me. Just see it. It's
Reading -- just finished Detroit: An American Autopsy. If you'd
like to know what's at the bottom of the commode Oakland's
teetering on the edge of, this book explains it.
Eating -- there's nothing I don't love about it. It's a religious
experience at its best, and great even when it's average. I've
found a Lomito Completo in Santiago, Morcipan in Buenos Aires,
noodles in Bangkok, Dal Bhat in Kathmandu...my favorite Banh Mi in
the Richmond, and there's more to come.
I'm by habit kinda semi-vegetarian (get greens in every way I can,
cut out the starches, you know...) but the little meat that I eat
is anything goes. That means sweetbreads, pork belly, offal,
oysters, sushi, all the good stuff.
Still one of my favorite pleasures is eating an avocado straight
from its shell, with a little soy sauce in its dimple.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Phil Dunphy is a goddamned American hero.
I hear there's a lot of dudes with Tiger photos. The converse are
yoga poses on a log or cliff. Stop doing yoga poses. You are one
with the universe. We get it.
When I'm feeling down, finding things to be grateful for. When life
hands me WTF, I try to LOL.
Everyone was put on this Earth for a reason, and few of us ever
really learn what that reason is.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
wishing I'd planned something for Friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a loud sneezer.
I'm *very, very good* at reading people, and I learn more about
people than they think they're letting on. I can smell trouble like
shit on a shoe.
