I’m looking for a sparky connection with another active mind and
soul. I’d love to have a steamy romance with a best friend: someone
who provokes me -- to be amazing, to love harder, to complete the
bucket list, and to get silly sometimes!
Someone who’s kind, inquisitive, honest, smart, and has a sense of
purpose in life. Someone I can have endless conversations with that
only stop with irresistible, interrupting kisses. Someone I can be
all-in for and who can be all-in for me.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a career that's been meaningful (and fun); an ex-husband I'm
friendly with; great friends and family; a lively teenage daughter
who is an old-soul at heart and who’s one of my best friends.
I’m a do-what-I-say-I’m going-to-do type of person. Thoughtfulness
gets big points with me!
My humor tends to be quirky, witty, a little bold, and a dash of
Full disclosure: I can be little steely on the outside, but I’m a
soft, sweet marshmallow on the inside.
I’m really good at
Being reassuring and helping people sort through complicated
problems. (That's what I do for a living.) Writing. Anticipating
other people's needs. Knitting great hats! Listening. Being lazy.
Ordering sushi. Winning staring contests. Being a good and loyal
friend. Kissing (if I do say so myself).
The first things people usually notice about me
My smiling Scottish eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Reading a lot of poetry lately -- Whitman, Ginsburg, Dickenson, Bob
Hicok, Dorianne Laux, lots of other contemporary poets. Otherwise,
books too numerous to mention. The New Yorker. Movies where people
talk to each other about meaningful things (Lars and the Real
Girl). Oh, and political thrillers (the Bourne series) and romcoms
(You've Got Mail is my all-time fave). Comedy (Louis CK, Key &
Peele, SNL.) Singer-songwriters (James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Paul
Simon, Shawn Colvin, Mary-Chapin Carpenter), progressive folk rock
(Indigo Girls), classic rock (you name it). Trying to warm up to
EDM, which my daughter likes. Listen to NPR, of course. ACT, art
galleries, comedy clubs, the occasional disco rollerskating. Giants
baseball! Being on or in water! Blueberries and sushi (but not
The six things I could never do without
My friends, my kid, my dogs, my cat, and something to write with,
something to write on.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'll do when my nest is empty. My five-year plan -- scaling
back at work, traveling, having adventures!
On a typical Friday night I am
Whatever strikes my fancy -- usually relaxing and refueling after a
busy week. Out with a friend, eating pizza with teenagers (my
daughter and her friends), or cuddling up with a good book and a
dog, wishing I had your company.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My first job in SF was as a bike messenger. I still can't remember
how I managed to go up and down California Street.
