I am a hater, a lover, and a writer.

My Self-Summary

I am a bittersweet kind of cynic, and a student of the world on many levels. My few virtues often take me down a muddy path, but who ever turned down a good wrestle in the mud?
Now in Russian
I taught myself English by reading Stephen King novels at an early age. I have since forgotten Russian, and I am re-learning this year.

The first things people usually notice about me

are my tattoos, my height (er, lack thereof), and my nervous chain smoking habit.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Bettie loves the written word like you wouldn't believe. Chuck Palahniuk, Katherine Dunn, Jean Genet, Sarah Waters, Charles Bukowski, on and on and on.

Bettie loves a bit of beauty flitting across the screen. Must be laden with pseudo-intellectual subtext. Think Tarantino, Fight Club, cult thrillers.

Bettie loves to see the bass shakin up the windows of her Maxima. Sublime, Marley and the Wailers, Fiona Apple, Jimi Hendrix, Eminem, Tracy Chapman, and a hodgepodge of classic to 90's rockiness.

Bettie just loooves to eat! Steak, avocado, scallop, bacon, mash, and tons of garlic. Also, bittersweet chocolate and Jameson.

The six things I could never do without

are cynicism, cigarettes, coffee, literature, bad intentions, and good friends.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what it is that we're really doing on this rock. On an individual basis I get that some of us are just trying to get through the day, and others want to change the world. Ultimately, is one life more valuable than the other? How can I make my life as valuable and progressive as possible with minimum effort and maximum thinking time?

On a typical Friday night I am

finishing a busy week, spending too much time on my hair, and going out with some friends. Love small concerts in the backs of bars, book and poetry events, new restaurants, and fabulous wine!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

is that I absolutely love attention, although sometimes I can't handle it.

You should message me if

you aren't taking yourself too seriously, but nobody would tell if they didn't ask. A little effortless elegance and a bit of glint in the eye will do it.
