My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Gregarious, kind, optimistic (with the more than occasional dash of east coast cynicism), and altruistic.

I like: good music, feeding people, scouring vintage stores, puns, sending mail, and all the quaint and normal things (hiking, biking, reading, writing, canning, crafting, traveling...).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Running an education and prevention-focused program for a domestic and sexual violence nonprofit, mostly teaching the kids these days about healthy relationships and healthy sexuality.

Training for my second triathlon.

Board member-ing for a feminist media organization.

Big Sister-ing to a pretty awesome now 17 year old kid.

Meeting up with various friends (mostly the best ones) in cities, near and far.

Trying to figure it all out (with marginal success). Trying to strike a balance. Trying not to try too hard.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Dressing myself. Sharing my opinions. Reading a map. Being friendly. Baking pies.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm laughing (loudly) at something. Probably myself.

I'm a fully committed consumer of popular culture, so these lists are lengthy and ever-changing.

Books: I read pretty voraciously. Currently: A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit, The Empathy Exams by Leslie Jamison, Sex From Scratch by Sarah Mirk and always, always, always some work-related research. I'm also trying to keep up with my Tin House subscription and failing miserably (I've given up on the print edition of the New Yorker entirely and just read it online now, lest I become a hoarder).

Movies: The Wizard of Oz or The Princess Bride.

I also appreciate: all things by Hitchcock, almost all the things by Wes Anderson, Danny Boyle, John Hughes, Mel Brooks, the Coen Brothers, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino, Werner Herzog, Pedro Almodóvar, Sofia Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch, Jim Jarmusch, and Billy Wilder.

Shows: Mad Men, Breaking Bad, New Girl, Arrested Development, Friday Night Lights, Six Feet Under, The Walking Dead, Parks and Rec, Game of Thrones, The League, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Music: Neko Case, Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley, Sleater-Kinney, Tilly and the Wall, the Smiths, Elliot Smith, Mirah, the Kinks, the Magnetic Fields, the Pixies, Band of Horses, M. Ward, the New Pornographers, Animal Collective, Horse Feathers, Le Tigre, Gillian Welch, the Gossip, Architecture in Helsinki, the Beastie Boys, Talking Heads, Black Prairie, Marina and the Diamonds, Dolly Parton, Fiona Apple, Irma Thomas, Belle & Sebastian, Mates of State, Margot & The Nuclear So and So's, Johnny Cash, First Aid Kit, Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside, Bruce Springsteen, Waxahatchee, alt-J, Patsy Cline, Bonnie Montgomery, Beyonce, Icona Pop, Sam Cooke, Casey Neill and the Norway Rats. Motown. Any and all Motown. Lots more, but this list is already really long.

I'm loving the recent resurgence of now grown-up riot grrl music: the Julie Ruin, Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag, etc.

Food: I like it all.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Gonzo. Outdoor time spending. My Leatherman. Other people. Micro-point gel ink rollerball pens. Context.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Myself. Politics. Socio-cultural norms. Cute people.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson attended my First Holy Communion.

That's less of a private thing and more of a namedrop, really.
