I’m a man of the world. Cosmopolitan, you might say. I have refined tastes and enjoy some of the finer things. But the simple things in life also work for me. My sense of humor is definitely intact and the adjectives wry and corny probably fit it best. I’m a guy who loves great conversation. School definitely keeps me busy but I always make time for travel, a good meal out or anything new and interesting. In the past, I wasn’t looking for anything lasting. But I now have a new perspective, I like my life and am having a great time but I’m finally ready to meet someone special.

What do I like in a woman? A little bit of shyness is a huge turn-on. Intelligence, honestly and a ready laugh are great. The girl for me challenges me – she holds me to certain standards and isn’t afraid to disagree with me. She enjoys deep conversation, whether it’s philosophical, political, historical or just what happened on American Idol last night. She’s got a great personality, her own sense of style and that certain confidence. Just a laid back and cool girl who can let things happen naturally.

I'm attending school to get my degree in computer science. I also get paid to do research into Naegleria, a freshwater pathogen. My research into Naegleria involves identifying DNA sequence elements, hopefully ones that are important for replication and protein expression. One goal of ours, now that we’ve sequenced most of Naegleria, is to annotate genes (to identify their names and their functions).

What’s exciting about my research is that the annotations we make will be added to the Genbank database, which allows other researchers to share the information we discovered. I enjoy that the research is collaborative this way, and that the Internet is a powerful tool for making this happen. I like the work I do because it allows me to combine programming skills I am learning in computer science with the biology I learned in medical school. I’d like to work for NIH someday in their human genome project or for a pharmaceutical company in drug discovery.
