I am smart, hilarious, and generous.

My Self-Summary

Originally from New York, I moved to Denver 5 years ago for graduate school however I still haven't lost my sarcastic sense of humor.

What I’m doing with my life

Occupationally, I am enveloped by science, however I'd love to learn more about the culinary arts. I am trying to finish up my PhD in biomedical science, but I'm starting to have doubts about whether I'm suited to remain in academia.

I’m really good at

Organizing events. I know that's a weird answer, and most people probably expect something like "baking" or "skiing" (both of which I do, maybe not well, but I do partake), but my real talent is in organizing and directing people/activities. I'd probably make a great party planner or secretary, but after being in school for this long... well you get the idea.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair. It's big, brown, curly, think Elaine from Seinfeld. Whenever I have it straight people hardly recognize me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Being forced to pick a favorite of any of these categories is too difficult. However, right now on my night stand you will find David Sedaris, Jodie Piccult, Isaac Asimov's Foundation and Catch 22. Scrolling through my recently viewed netflix queue, Lars and the Real Girl stands out. I love anything with eggplant, sweet potato gnocci in a brown butter sage sauce, and sea salt and vinegar flavored kettle potato chips.

The six things I could never do without

1) My Brother (and my family in general)
2) flip flops (rainbow brand, leather, totally beat up)
3) TV (on Demand/netflix/HBO)
4) kitchen aid food processor (how anyone makes pie crust or grates cheese with out one is beyond me)
5) cell phone (instant access to out of town friends/email/internet - totally adicted)
6) fan next to my bed (can't sleep without the sound of whooshing air by my head)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Good songs to sing in a band. The most obvious answer would be my thesis project, but that's boring. I just sang in a band comprised of co-workers, and we're thinking of continuing so now I'm trying to think of great new songs to learn.

On a typical Friday night I am

At the local bar for happy hour with co-workers/friends. Lately I've been taking a dance class on Friday afternoons just for fun, but that's new.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a tough person and can take on a lot of "stuff" and a lot of stress with out falling to pieces, but sometimes commercials make me cry.

You should message me if

you are a very smart person. I am really looking for someone who can keep up with my humor and me intellectually. I don't necessarily need someone who is "book smart," but hopefully you are a fast learner.

I like planning events, but I also like doing things spontaneously. A big turn off for me is indecisiveness. If something fun comes up, lets do it! Even if we didn't plan on it for weeks to come.
