My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I read somewhere that one's personality can be shaped by the fictional character's they enjoy. If true I am an amalgamation of dozens of space captains, a 'who's who' of mad scientists, several Emporers, and a mix of knights and valiant hero's thrown in for good measure.

Although I like to imagine myself as some epic figure, I'm really just a geeky, gregarious, imaginative and introverted guy getting by the best he can.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Tinkering with the building blocks of life as I pursue my PhD takes up about 89% of my time. The rest is sleeping and pursuing hobbies. I play golf (badly), I study historic swordplay (proficiently), and day dream (constantly).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being skeptical and rational.
Turning everything into a scientific experiment.
Listening and telling stories.
Dry humor.
Being myself.
Putting things off 'till tomorrow. (I really need to work on this last one)
The first things people usually notice about me

Probably, my fair blond hair, I've had girls tell me they would kill to have my hair color, I'm not sure why.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Friends.
2) Good cheese and scotch
3) Stellar conversation
4) Podcasts and audiobooks.
5) My laptop
6) Science!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I am almost constantly lost in my own thoughts.

Sometimes they are day dreams about life as a galactic hero/emperor or a Starfeet officer.
Sometimes they are debates with imagined opponents.
Sometimes they are running fencing drills and techniques in my head.
Sometimes they are planning experiments or making sense of data from work.
They almost always help me make sense of the world.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either, unwinding by grabbing a beer or a show at the local watering hole with some friends;
Geeking out and playing boardgames and RPGs;
Curling up with a glass of scotch and a good book in a comfy chair.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am not overly fond of the ocean. I can take it or leave it.
I grew up by a lake in a valley with mountains on either side. Just something about the ocean's vastness, depth, and a flat horizon that creeps me out a bit.
