A little about me. I am a separated father of two awesome boys (no, really, they are adorable and hilarious!), who are with me half time. I am also a leukemia survivor. I was initially diagnosed in 2001, relapsed in 2009 and am now the proud custodian of the stem cells of a very kind and generous donor. I like to get that out of the way up front because, while I am not defined by my cancer experience, I have long since given up pretending it isn't an important part of where and who I am today.

I am quite easygoing and enjoy making people laugh (and having it reciprocated). I love...love, love, love good conversation, being able to just sit with someone and talk effortlessly about life, politics, love, social issues, home renovation or gardening, small-scale agriculture, history, health human resources...seriously, just about anything other than celebrities, gossip and country music (sorry, just can't do it).

I am very curious and love to learn, read and explore. I love ideas and creativity, seeing the possibilities in our world and not accepting things just because someone says that's the way it's always been done. That being said, I was brought up not to rock the boat, so there is a bit of an internal struggle there. I am still looking for answers, and would love to meet someone interested in joining me in the search.

I have "done" the online dating thing before, both successfully and otherwise, so I am keenly aware that it is difficult to really judge someone by a profile, regardless of how honest they are. I am looking forward to starting conversations and getting to know people. Infatuation is easy and it takes a bit of effort sometimes to step back and really get to know someone.

Learning, reinventing and finding my way.

- Thinking about and synthesizing ideas.
- Listening to, learning about and empathizing with people.
- Writing (although I still struggle with the practice of writing.
- I am reasonable good at gardening and landscaping, and enjoy those activities.

Likely my eyes, both because they are interesting to look at, and also because I see the world somewhat differently.

Books - "Reasoning Otherwise" and "The Emperor of All Maladies" ... I really do need to read more fiction.

Movies - I don't tend to remember movies easily, but I do enjoy ones that make me think...and sometimes even ones that make me feel :-)

Music - I don't listen to lots of music these days, by am quite fond of the music of John K. Samson and Christine Fellows.

Food...hmm...food. I have traditionally not been very adventurous, or particularly picky, but I have enjoyed trying new foods recently. I'm open...

Life, my children, parenting, social issues, technology, political and social engagement, access to information, cooperation, caring, the meaning of contentment and happiness, how I can best contribute to my community and the world.

Lately often at home reading, pondering, learning...and open to possibilities.
