Full disclosure: I'm moving to SF in December, but I figured I'd go ahead and change my location in the sake of keeping up to date.
UPDATE: I'm here. My furniture is not, but I made it.

I was born and raised in the central valley, went to school in San Luis Obispo, lived in San Diego for awhile, then moved up to the Sacramento area and am now ramping up for my move to the city.

I find myself researching weird topics for my own edification like momento mori (similarly I love anything to do with dia de Los muertos) or the uncanny valley hypothesis. I'll then tutor everyone around me on said topics. So if you want to know some really random facts I'm your gal.

Just like everyone else and their mother I like traveling, reading, cooking and hiking. But that's not what you want to know. I bet you want to know how I fell off a cliff in Big Sur while rock diving only to be saved by the crotch of my swimsuit.

Mostly working and traveling. Traveling and working. I work in retail development project management, which is just a fancy way of saying I work for a company that builds shopping malls. I consider myself a girlie-girl, but for some reason I looooooooove wearing hard hats and looking at building plans.

Right now all my friends are dropping like flies and going the marriage route. I thought we'd all stay footloose and fancy free for a little while longer so I'm having a little culture shock at the moment and trying to wrap my head around being a bridesmaid in 3 different weddings in a 6 week period.

At home manicures.
Assembling IKEA furniture (one of my favorite activities actually, and equally I still get immensely joyful playing with Legos).
Self-deprecating humor.
Gift giving.
NOT gift wrapping.
Trivial Pursuit.

That I usually look like someone else they know. Other than that, I have no clue.

Books: I feel like I only read when I have a long weekend or am on vacation, but I do love it. If so it's usually something by David Sedaris, Jhumpa Lahiri, Christopher Moore, or Charlene Harris (sometimes you just gotta read some junk). I'll re-read Grendel by John Gardner any day.

Movies: I love movies and can quote them all day long, and usually do so when I'm around my brother which turns into just annoying the crap out of everyone around us (favorite movie to quote:The Fifth Element "mooooooltipass!"). Some siblings have a special language - ours is comprised of movie quotes. My favorites: Big Lebowski, anything by Wes Anderson, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Pulp Fiction. Some classics that I'll watch over and over again are Freeway, Auntie Mame, The Lost Boys, Big Trouble in Little China, Jawbreaker, Labyrinth, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and anything by Tim Burton.

TV: Breaking Bad, Modern Family, Mad Men. I love 30 Rock, Parks and Rec - Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are my ladyheroes. Ladyheroes is a word. I swear. I am one of those people that will watch one episode of a show on netflix, like it, then have a full-out marathon and blow through 6 seasons in a few days. Which I recently did with Doctor Who.

Music: Runs the gamut - depends on the day, my mood, my current activity, the temperature - I pretty much like anything and everything (except for "pop country", I just don't get it). Favorites are Steely Dan, Basement Jaxx, The Black Keys, old school Michael Jackson, Devo. According to Spotify my favorites are -

Food: is delicious. I like all kinds, being from an Italian family, I've got an appreciation for pasta, being from California, I love me some Mexican food. I love noodles when it's cold outside - that could mean pho, spaghetti, chow mein, stroganoff - whatever, as long as it's noodly. I like to squeeze sriracha sauce on just about everything as well. But my favorite go-to is Mediterranean, whether it's Greek, Lebanese, Turkish I don't care. Give me a doner kebab and I'm a happy girl.

Besides the obvious air, food, water, and sleep bits?

- friends and family to laugh/cry with
- lip balm/mascara
- clean sheets/nighttime showers
- some sort of bubbly beverage/cheese
- internets
- shoes. glorious shoes.

At this point of my life mostly my career - how's it going? Am I headed in the right direction? How in the hell did I get here? Also, what it means to be "30". I'm not upset about it, but it just happened, so I find myself trying to "feel" 30. What is it supposed to feel like? Am I headed in the right direction? How in the hell did I get here?

Either on a plane, or excited that I'm not on a plane so grabbing dinner with a girlfriend or hanging out in my pj's and catching up.

I like socks. Dorky socks, printed socks, solid socks, mismatched socks - they're all awesome in my book. I don't even wear socks that much. Just while working out (which is a specific athletic sock) and in bed if it's cold (and then no one sees my super cool tomato socks). But if I see a pair that catches my eye, I have to snatch them up.

Also, I use to hold and rock our family cocker spaniel to sleep like a baby when I was a kid by singing her Christmas carols because I didn't know any lullabies by heart.
