My self-summary
I've just moved to Nelson from Wellington for a new job, and don't know too many people here. I'm having a good time exploring on my own but it's always nice to have company.

I am a quite intense, passionate person who likes adventures and storytelling. I'm seeking somebody with all their emotional shit together who can have big exciting conversations and the odd brunch date with me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a reporter and photographer for a small community newspaper. I also run a blog about books, and write short stories and poetry.
I’m really good at
All that stuff connected with being interested in people: reading, writing, listening, conversation.

I'm also a pretty wild and experimental cook. This is only sometimes considered a talent!
The first things people usually notice about me
It's not the first thing, but there's usually a moment after a few weeks of hanging out where somebody goes, "You've got different-coloured eyes!"

Left is green, right's half-green and half-brown- there's a line down the middle.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a successful literary critic- I think it goes without saying I have a lot of favourite authors. I've got specific interests in science fiction, literary horror, poetry and comic books, so if you can talk to me about any of those I'll be pretty thrilled.

I'm a lot less serious about music, but currently going through a phase involving Alphabethead, Robyn and The Weeknd.
The six things I could never do without
- Coffee: I was a barista in Wellington for just over 3 years and still have the habit going strong. I'm a regular at Cafe on Oxford in Richmond.

- Books: Usually three to six at a time, for reviewing as well as pleasure. Right now it's Bret Easton Ellis' "Less Than Zero", Patti Smith's "Woolgathering" and "Tropic of Cancer" by Henry Miller.

- Notebooks: Pen holding my hair together + notebook in the handbag has saved my ass many times.

- So far, so First World. I can't think of anything else integral to my life that isn't boring, obvious or really bourgeois: gym, laptop, USB drive, iPhone, other peoples' cats, satchel-bag, comfy bed, silly shoes, perfume collection, small camera, big camera, Wikipedia, Google Maps.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Escapism: travel, dreams, possibilities, stories.

And work...
On a typical Friday night I am
Enjoying trashy TV with my flatmates, working on creative stuff, posting on forums or drinking fancy wine with my distinguished next-door neighbour.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was a four-year-old violin prodigy, and still own two heirloom violins that are each more than 200 years old. The only thing I remember how to play is the "Autumn" suite from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons."
