I am an elementary school teacher, looking for new friends, and eventually, a long term relationship. I don't know exactly who I'm looking for, or when/how it will all happen, but I am open to what God has in store for me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently teaching in an elementary school. I am also a tutor in the evenings and weekends, and teach Sunday school almost every week. In addition, I enjoy helping out with audio-visual and sometimes help fix a neighbor's computer problem or two.
I’m really good at
I am somewhat proficient at a variety of things, including
teaching, singing, organization, and technology.
I also really enjoy piano, but am not as proficient at reading
music. Still I have a couple of really amazing songs I can play, if
you happen to know Christian music.
The first things people usually notice about me
Most people notice how enthusiastic and cheerful I am, and often
comment on it. I work pretty hard to tone it down actually so I
don't look so ridiculous. I admit it, I love life and my
circumstances, and I don't wish to change that positive attitude
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
"It's Not All Flowers and Sausages: My Adventures in Second Grade" by Mrs. Mimi
This is a hilarious book about the experiences of a 2nd Grade teacher in a Harlem (NYC) Public School. From not having a supply of pencils to having unusual field trips to a 'farm' in New York City, this book packs the laughs on every page! It makes me realize how good I have it in the elementary school of suburbia.
The six things I could never do without
- A personal relationship with the Lord
- A willingness to serve
- I don't think there are four more necessary things. I might think of one or two more later.
I'm updating this after having these up for awhile, and I still haven't thought of any more things to add.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I love teaching. It feels invigorating when my students and I are
completely engaged in a lesson, using manipulatives, and they are
asking and answering questions with each other, exploring a topic
deeply as a group. I enjoy discussing teaching ideas with other
teachers in order to consider new ideas and improve my abilities.
On a typical Friday night I am
I work on Friday nights at my tutoring center. On Fridays, I teach Algebra and Geometry.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
While I know quite a bit about technology, I have very limited
knowledge on any of the following:
- Video games: I think I played a video game once when I was
babysitting as a teen, and I couldn't get my character to do more
than jump before the boy knocked me off the top of a building. I
must admit, I was a bit frustrated after that.
- Secular media: What's that new movie out lately? Is it worth
paying $6? Yeah, I didn't think so.
- Texting: All text messages I've ever sent have ended with,
"WHERE'S THE LOWERCASE BUTTON?"
Yes, I'll admit, I don't have much of an online presence. I prefer
to spend time with people in person, and generally do.
You should message me if
you're still reading. :)
Actually, if you read past the texting piece, I'm quite amazed at your open-mindedness, and would really like you to contact me.
However, if you were looking for a more well thought out answer to this one:
You should message me if you are an open-minded Christian who can enjoy being lifelong friends with a grown up goofball who is perfectly capable of being mature, but most of the time would rather just spend free time living into Matthew 18:3. :)
Well, okay. Maybe that's taking that verse a bit out of context. :)
