My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a pretty shy/awkward person socially, and I'm absolutely terrible at small talk, but once I get to know someone I literally never shut up. In all honesty the best description of me I've ever heard was that I'm an 'information-holic'...so yeah...Since I'm also apparently terrible at summarising myself, here's a list of (somewhat) interesting facts about myself:

I'm originally from the US, and I'm here doing a PhD in philosophy.

I'm a massive geek. Mainly for music, political zines, vinyl, scifi/fantasy, and philosophy, but if I can get into it, I'll gladly geek out over it.

I'm a really avid reader. I'm a certified news junkie but otherwise I mainly read books/zines/articles/blogs about racism, sexism, capitalism. You know, the terrible things about the world.

I'm polyamorous, which means I think it's possible to love more than one person at a time

I can't ride a bike (please don't laugh)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Besides constantly stressing about my PhD and worrying about whether or not I could viably wind up having an academic career after I'm done?

I'm always looking for new bands to check out, and I'm I've got a couple of projects in the works myself. Other than that I've started working on writing a couple of zines and I'm working on a stand up act to try out sometime, but god knows if I'll ever finish any of that. I'd love to start organising discussion/reading groups, but I don't actually know enough people who'd be interested so that's probably not going to happen anytime soon
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
overanalysing everything
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In England it's probably the fact that I'm American. Besides that it's probably my impeccable fashion sense
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Music: I used to have a list of really obscure grindcore, powerviolence, sludge, doom, crust, 'hipster' black metal, political hip hop, and post-rock bands, but that was sort of pointless. So yeah, those are the genres I absolutely love, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate good music in other genres

Books: If I had to pick, the two most important book to me are David Lewis's On the Plurality of Worlds and Martha Nussbaum's Frontiers of Justice. Two books that have had a big impact on me lately though are Sober Living for the Revolution: Hardcore Punk, Straight Edge, and Radical Politics, and The Revolution Starts at Home: Confronting Intimate Violence in activist Communities

Movies: I absolutely love documentaries, but other movies I really love are Clerks, Punishment Park, Full Metal Jacket, Airplane!, American History X, District 9, This is England, Children of Men, La Haine, Die Welle, Paper Heart, Young Frankenstein, and the original Star Wars Trilogy

Shows: Totally Biased (Now canceled, but it was amazing), Bob's Burgers, Louie, Futurama, Daria, Adventure Time, The Venture Bros., The Daily Show, Firefly, Game of Thrones, The Boondocks, Flight of the Concords, Parks and Recreation, Everybody Hates Chris, Ghost in the Shell, Chapelle's Show, Ergo Proxy, The Richord Pryor Show

Food: all of it
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My music collection, my book/zine collection (they're my babies), my guitar, my glasses (seriously, I went 6 months without glasses once and it was fucking horrible), access to the news, a sense of humour
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Philosophy: metaphysics and philosophy of language, but I'm also really interested in feminist philosophy and social justice theory.

Kyriarchy and what to do about it.

What I'm going to make for dinner, because it's not all politics and philosophy all the time
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
My social life predominately revolves around music, so I'd probably be at a gig. Otherwise I'd just be at home reading something, watching standup comedy, or playing an old school RPG to pass time
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a southern boy from the "Heart of Dixie."

If you actually got this far through my profile without being bored to tears it's probably a good sign we'd have something to talk about. You should definitely message me if you want to collaborate on a zine, want to go to a standup night, or if you'd be up for playing Backgammon with me.
