I am quirky, entertaining, and emphatic.
My Self-Summary
I'm not originally from Nebraska. I was stationed here a few months
ago, and I'm enjoying the people I meet, the new places to explore,
and all the new experiences the Mid-Mid-West has to offer.
I'm a cinema buff, and particularly enjoy non-mainstream movies.
Sometimes I go out of my way to watch indie trailers, get super
excited about them, then forget it until they show up on my Netflix
recommendations.
I'm kind of a smart-alec, but I attune to other people's feelings
and I dial back anything rude when they aren't interested in the
lip.
I used to be a chef, and I do love food. I like the flavors and
textures of my favorite original recipes. I love to bake breads.
Kneading is one of my favorite kitchen prep activities.
I have a job within the Air Force that fits me perfectly. I'd tell
you here, but then there'd be no mystery.
I'm a dabbler in guitar and the piano, even though I haven't
touched a keyboard in around 8 months.
What I’m doing with my life
I have an degree in Culinary Arts. Right now, I'm not using it for
anyone except myself, but it may pay off for others someday.
I'm in the Air Force. For now, they're keeping me pretty
busy.
I try to get in movies whenever I can, and I read so much, the
librarian knows my name. Right now I'm re-reading "Band of
Brothers."
I'm also doing a large amount of crossword puzzles and sneaking
peeks at my horoscope (which I don't believe in, but it never
hurts).
I’m really good at
Scratching and surviving? (Good Times!) I like to try everything at
least once. I've got such a big list of things left to try that I
haven't narrowed down my favorites, but I am a fan of my own
cooking.
The first things people usually notice about me
People seem to zone in on my extraordinary ability to exist. I'm
seldom hit with cars for this reason. No, I'm taller than most, and
I wear glasses. I have a big goofy smile that I whip out when I'm
having a good time.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
We'll start with movies: 300, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless
Mind,
The Royal Tennenbaums,
High Fidelity, any and all Quentin Tarantino films, Reign Over Me,
The Big
Lebowski, Sin City, the Princess Bride, American Beauty,
Stranger than Fiction, Best in Show and many many more.
Books: "Lamb, The Gospel According to Biff, Childhood Friend of
Jesus", "Catch-22", "The Stand", "Dynamics of Faith" by Paul
Tillich, "Fight Club" by
Chuck Palahniuk (Spelled it
right on the first try!), "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David
Sedaris
Music: Regina Spektor,
Death Cab for Cutie, The
Shins, Jimmy Eat World, Beck,
Ben Folds, 80's pop-rock, old
Green-Day, David Bowie,
Rocky Votolato, Elliot Smith, The
Flaming Lips, Johnathan Coulton, Noah and the Whale
Foods: Chili Verde burritos, ballpark bratwurst with the grilled
onions and peppers, my homemade Honey Maple Wheat Bread, Mac &
Jack African Amber (which is totally a food! Beer=food!) and
chicken supreme with rosemary bourguignon sauce and garlic mashed
potatoes. Oooo...and asparagus.
The six things I could never do without
My glasses. I can't see a thing without my glasses.
Internet access. I love wikipedia and IMDB.com. I'm a sucker for
the connections they link between.
Some loose change to pay for the first cup of morning coffee.
My knife set. You can't make a great meal without knives.
Fresh socks. They make your feet feel groovy.
My cell phone, which I use as a watch 90% of the time.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I often wonder where the time goes. It's not that I'm bad at
budgeting my time, but I under-estimate how much time it'll
take.
Like cooking a nice meal at home...I schedule only take the 30
minutes it takes to cook, but I forget you have to eat it
afterward. Oops.
It doesn't happen often, but it sneaks up on me.
On a typical Friday night I am
I go out at least once each weekend, but not always Friday night. I
sometimes do have work on Fridays, but can get away most of the
time. It's just a matter of deciding that it's worth driving
somewhere.
Because it's a new area, I need some new hangouts. I know I can
have an awesome time where ever I go. I just don't know where the
most fun other people are at yet. Message me if you have
suggestions.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have a mole on my shoulder that grows four individual hairs. I
sometimes shave it. I probably shouldn't have told you this.
You should message me if
You have any inkling of having a continued conversation or think
you might want to meet someday. Or if you want to find out what my
job is. Or if you want to sing the Good Times theme song. It'll be
fun.
