My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
38 years old, 5'8", living on the North side in Bucktown. Never married, no kids.

BTW, I'm for-real 5 foot and 8 inches tall. Several women have told me that dudes lie about their height, so just wanted to throw that out there. Sigh. Chicago, when did you get so dang height-centric?

Some random facts about me:

Grew up in a small Midwestern town. My high-school graduating class had only 80 kids. My friends who grew up in the 'burbs always seem to be amazed by this.

I'm one of five kids (second oldest).

Spent five years living in Utah, just outside of Salt Lake City. It was a great location, and I still miss being so close to the mountains.

Lived in Chicago since 2007, except for about an 8 month stretch in the 'burbs. Long story.

Not a big sports guy, just never really got into it growing up. I usually have some idea if the Bears won or lost, and maybe a general sense on how the Bulls are doing, but that's about it.

I do follow NASCAR. Not religiously, but I will usually know who's on top from week to week. Don't judge! It's a guilty pleasure.

I have been known to be: a little OCD, kind of high-strung, a good drinking buddy, a decent runner, loved by animals, Moms, and little kids. I'm kind of disorganized, and there's always a pile of laundry to be done. I'm sort of a homebody, and if it’s a question of heading out to the bars or staying in and watching a DVD, I may opt for the DVD. I'm always up for an adventure though, and have always been someone who's willing to try anything once.

I'm a bit of an introvert, I guess, who has his extroverted moments from time to time.

I'm not looking for anything super-serious right off the bat. Would like to find someone to hang out with after work, go on the occasional trip, and just kind of enjoy spending time with each other. Life can be a pain sometimes, but it's a lot more bearable if you have a shoulder to lean on. Or at least someone to sit with in the bar and bitch about work with!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Nerdy engineer-type stuff. Started a new job recently that has me working from home.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Fixing things.

Books: I don't get a chance to read books as much as I would like, but when I do it's usually non-fiction. Most recent read was a book about working for the UN in war-torn third-world countries in the 90's.

Movies: The Untouchables. I love how they were able to recreate 1930's Chicago.

Shows: I don't watch a lot of TV, but I love anything with a good story arc. Most recently been following Justified, and I'm forever disappointed that Firefly was cancelled. Lately, I watch way too much Archer. I still find that show hilarious, no matter how many times I've seen an individual episode.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What does it all mean? Like, life and stuff?

What do the women of Chicagoland want? Do I have it? If not, where do I get it?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably just chilling at home, unwinding from the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
There is a question on here: Are you happy with your life? I'm always kinda amazed by the fact that 98% of you answer Yes. I answered No. I mean, I'm not necessarily unhappy, but dang, I'm not entirely happy either.

You'd be up for one of those fun, nervous, "getting to know one another over a couple drinks" kinda dates.

You actually want to go out on a date. Pen pals, and people who cancel at the last minute for dubious reasons need not apply. Seriously, what's up with this?

Bonus points if you grew up in a blue-collar small town.

You're not quite sure what you want out of life, but think it'd be nice to have someone next to you while you're figuring it out.
