A little about me: I grew up in a military family and have lived in Texas, Virginia, Alabama (2x), Mississippi, Nevada, Arizona (3x), New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado (2x), Azores, Philippines, and Poland – in no particular order (we’ll leave that for another conversation ☺). I keep coming back to Texas, so I guess you could say I am a Texan at heart. I recently moved back in September and happy to be living near family again. I love the excitement that comes with living in a different place and discovering new surroundings; although, at the same time I enjoy the comfort of familiarity.
I have traveled a lot in my life—I’ve visited 32 different countries. My favorite way of traveling is to spend a week (or longer) somewhere and get to know the people and the area. The longest trip I have done was four months in Central and South America. I also served in the Peace Corps, which was a great learning experience, yet definitely was not a vacation! Right now, maybe because it is cold, a beach vacation sounds really nice.
A little about my personality: I would say that I am an introvert, yet some would say otherwise. I adapt easily to most situations. I enjoy good conversation, but am also comforted by silence. In other words, we don’t necessarily have to go to a club or a movie to have a good time. I like the cliché picnics at sunset, but also like hanging out with friends, going dancing…and now that I’m back in Texas – going to see live music…and kayaking during the summer!
I am looking for someone who I can be goofy with and act myself. My health is very important to me and I am always trying to learn new dishes to cook (maybe we could cook a new meal together). I used to be a huge road cyclist, but now just enjoy leisurely rides. Where are the smooth roads near San Marcos??? That is what I most miss about Tucson…where I came from last. I am a recent movie convert and always looking for more movies to watch. I don’t have cable TV, but love Hulu and Amazon Prime (who doesn’t?)…that’s all I need right now. I tend to be more of a morning person and enjoy a good Americano. Ahhh….
Oh and by the way, I hope you are a dog lover! Petra is my beagle-terrier-blue healer mix…she will have been with me nine years this Christmas.
