My self-summary
*UPDATE*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please be advised for this public service announcement.
As it says at the bottom of my profile, which most do not seem to get to, I am in a relationship. I repeat, I'm happily taken. However, as it also says below, I still have my account because I enjoy meeting new people. Seeing as one of the options is "for new friends," I don't see an issue with this. I love conversation and talking with strangers. If you'd like that as well, without the expectation of a prospective relationship, then keep reading below, and maybe send me a message. I'd love to meet you.
Thank you.
So I've heard that, unlike E-Harmony and Match.com which people use to find their future life partner, OkCupid is basically for casual hookups. I'll just say upfront, this is not what I'm looking for. I am a "date for a while before getting physical" kind of person, so if a more Craigslist kind of experience is what you are after, I'll save you the trouble now.
Still reading? Great. Now let me throw in the next bit of news... I have a physical disability. I won't go into extreme details, but just think paraplegia in the upper extremities. It doesn't effect much of my life, but it is there, and it is noticeable. I don't often use dating sites, since the life of a college student is like one giant in-person dating site, but in the past I have found it was better to get any strange surprises out in the open as soon as possible.
Now are you still reading? Fantastic. Besides having a disability and not being willing to give a blow job behind a dumpster, I'm not sure what else to include in my self summary. Basically, I'd call myself a pretty well rounded person... I love reading fantasy books and playing video games, shopping at the mall and getting my hair done, watching movies and trashy reality television, going to the bar for a drink and whatever Cleveland sports team I'm sadly cheering for, or playing outside with the neighborhood kids.
I guess if I included anymore, my summary would become an autobiography, which I already write enough of on facebook. So if you want to know more, read more of these intense, personality revealing questions... or just send me a message.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a college graduate, earning my BA in Sociology, and I'm now in law school to become a disability rights attorney.
So other than seeing friends on the weekends, studying is my life, and will continue to be for the next few years. But hey, future lawyer here.
I’m really good at
While I have many small talents, I'm not sure I would consider myself REALLY good at anything. Some things I like to do and have been complimented on are singing, writing, and art (or creativity in general). I'm a crafty person.
I'm also a very social person, and can strike up a conversation with anyone I run into. It's amazing what interesting things you can learn from a complete stranger.
And I guess I'll include intelligence, though I tend to dislike people who brag about their own intelligence. I like smart people, not pompous ones. But spending my entire life thus far in school, I'm pretty good at being a student.
The first things people usually notice about me
My short stature and young face. I am frequently handed children's menus at restaurants, so the first thing many people notice about me is my mature speech, triggering a lightbulb in their head that says "oh hey, I don't think she's actually 12."
Other than that, I think my ease and ability to smile and laugh in social situations is what draws people to me. Yes, I can be shy and nervous at times, but all it takes to push through is a joke or two.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Oh god, this section could take me days to write. So I'll try to stick to generalities.
Books - Anything fantasy or sci-fi, action and adventure, or tear-jerking and romantic. I like reading young adult novels as well as more intellectual pieces. I also love reading personal memoirs by my favorite actors or comedians.
Just read - "The Fault in our Stars" by John Green. It was incredible.
Movies - Basically all of them. I have certain movies that I can watch a million times (like The Nightmare Before Christmas), but I will watch anything once.
Shows - I love Fox dramas, CBS comedy shows, and reality competition shows like Survivor and Hell's Kitchen. My 3 favorite tv shows are Scrubs, the Big Bang Theory, and South Park.
Music - Everything. I prefer not to listen to a small selection (like scream metal, dubstep, or hardcore rap), but I can listen to and appreciate every type of music.
Food - I love most food. I especially love meat, but have recently considered giving it up. It is really hard to want to eat meat once you learn about the treatment of animals in the food industry.
The six things I could never do without
Hmm, I'm pretty sure if I were on a deserted island, I would want a lot more than 6 things. But if I'm strictly limited to 6 (because I do fear the internet police ticketing me for not following the rules)...
People - Not rude or ignorant or annoying people, but those I deem worthy to have a place in my life. I couldn't imagine being alone for too long.
Movies - If I had to pick just one form of entertainment, I'd pick movies. I'm a huge film buff, and am at the theater at least twice a month.
Pepsi - I seriously can't do without it. No really, I've tried.
Nature - While I love city living, I can't spend every moment of my life in a concrete jungle. I love the peaceful and inspiring natural world, so being near at least a large park is an absolute must. I'm going to throw pets/animals in with this category, so I can squeeze a couple more things in. -carefully glances at the pixel police-
Chocolate - I am a woman, need I say more?
Humor - If you can't laugh, you can't be my friend. Seriously. Laughter is life.
I'm going to go ahead and throw in water, food, and air into the list of things I could not do without. Just sayin'.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Social issues. Inequality and unfairness. It's what drives me to get through law school.
On a typical Friday night I am
I love going out as much as I love staying in. I'm not a huge drinker, so I don't frequent bars more than once or twice a month. But I love going out to dinner, or the movies, or a shopping area. Staying in usually involves take out or junk food, and a good movie or video game.
