My self-summary
2014. I'm pwning this year.

Hi! New-ish to the city.

In my dreams I have the ♥ of an indie rock kid and the #swagger of an r&b singer. I spend a lot of my days making this dream become more and more real. I like to think I am a diamond in the rough.
What I’m doing with my life
I spend my days dancing the cosmic robo-funk, DJing and promoting soul-centric events, making embarrassing video/performance art, going to school for art therapy, and cooking like a Japanese Canadian grandmother who dreams of home.
I’m really good at
I'm really interested in the dance party as a form to facilitate social change. Given the amount of time I invest into it, I am probably OK at this.
The first things people usually notice about me
My glasses, although I am wearing them less on the advice of an attractive friend. So you might not notice me at all anymore ;)

If you do notice me, I am probably doing the robot (for real).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

The groove. The funk. The beat. The jazz. The soul. The thump. The rock. The roll. The rhythm. The blues. Music is the blood that pumps through my spirit. Or something corny like that. Seriously. Get down.

Food is a very core part of my daily life. If we hang out, you can expect nights of me standing in the kitchen, pouring you drinks, and serving an endless slew of Japanese-inspired snacks e.g. Japanese style ceviche, tuna tataki curry, Miso gravy poutine, cucumber pickles in walnut paste, Japanese style cous-cous in dashi, etc.

Some artists I like are Adrian Piper, Yoko Ono, James Turrell, Tom Friedman, Marina Abramovic, Bill Viola and Makoto Aida. One younger artist I love is Sarah Gotowka. She also loves Mariah Carey and is one of my best friends.

Manga wins in the end. Keeps my language skills in tact.

Japanese comedy/variety programming. Love Jdramas (boys over flowers etc.) too. ALWAYS romantic comedies. Even terrible ones.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think a lot out about sex. Love, violence, consent, feminism, monogamy/non-monogamy, gender, racialization, mind/body relationships, art, kink, therapy, dance ... I could go on. (WARNING: I am not an expert and definitely a student about many things. If I say or do some hetero-normative stupid shit it is because I don't understand. So call me on my shit!) As you may guess I am perpetually TMI and inappropriate.
On a typical Friday night I am
Dancing with or without you. Currently looking for potential teachers and/or partners for partner dances. Ultimately I want to dance like the funkiest old couple at a wedding.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm so tired of being alone
I'm so tired of on-my-own
Won't you help me girl
Just as soon as you can?
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You feel feelings or at least try to. You play hard. You are invested in human connection. You are complicated (in a good way), nuanced and sweet. You see that we bond as humans, not when are perfectly balanced and healed, but when our raw wounds touch each other.

I wanted to end with setting some standards. I have recently taken up the practice of being very direct with what I want from the people around me, which of course includes dates.

In general, I would like the nation of Vancouver to follow through more. If we discuss going on a date let's make that happen. If things come up, tell me. If we rain check, let's set a date instead of leaving it in the ether.

If this sounds ridiculous then I'm not for you, which is too bad because I like to think I'm pretty cute and sweet ;)
