Dear D.C., I don't care what you do so much as why you do it. Your professional title is not a substitute for a personality.

Never been a fan of gaudy, flashy, tacky things and can't stand the overindulgent/self-important personalities that usually accompany them. True, nice things tend to be expensive, but all things expensive are not nice solely because they cost a lot. Good design and pleasing aesthetics are not simply functions of cost - rules to live and die by.

Mostly a T-shirt and jeans guy, but I clean up well in a two button suit or a blazer on occasion - just don't expect rhinestones or animal skeletons to be on it. (Seriously, why is that still going on?)

My daydreams are frequent and many. My reality, agreeable but restless.

I work as a designer/draftsman for an architectural detailing subcontractor - if it's in/on a building in DC/MD/NOVA, we made it. I do quite a bit of design work with signage, logos, print media, and typefaces etc. I love walking around DC and seeing things I designed on buildings - chances are you've seen some of my work too!

Being an open book while still keeping my best cards hidden.

Listening. Most of my best friends over the years have been women; I've had plenty of practice.

I'm also a pretty enthusiastic dancer - I won't say good, usually a lot of two-stepping is involved, but I am always better with a partner!

I am definitely a smart ass. My boss knows it, my friends know it, my family knows it. I am a big fan of dry, deadpan sarcasm - meaning that my humor sometimes flies under the radar if you think I'm being serious. (Think Jason Bateman in Arrested Development meets Louie C.K.... and come to think of it, neither of which are great examples of what I'm talking about but two funny guys nonetheless!)

I speak proper English. Honestly, people I meet probably notice that first, but I didn't want to sound too cynical.

Ashamed to admit I read pop psychology books. I like to explore the way people think and rationalize their lives and the decisions they make - consciously and subconsciously. Drive, Stumbling On Happiness, Einstein's Dreams, Blink! etc..

Movies: Pretty much anything by the Cohen Brothers (Fargo, No Country For Old Men). Two of my favorite movies are Gattaca and There Will Be Blood. I also like dumb humor like Zoolander.

TV: Modern Family, Walking Dead, Californication, 30 Rock, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Breaking Bad, Arrested Development, Shameless, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Louie, Party Down, Bored To Death, Portlandia

How to be a little more like myself every day.

How weird people think they are, how weird they really aren't, and how much in common most people actually have if they would just listen.

At home cooking ridiculous amounts of delicious food, dancing at U-Hall, or at a friend's house drinking a beer.

A) I'm actually three ducks in a man-suit.

B) I'm a male feminist.

One of these is true.

- You can make sense of the chaos, but don't always feel the need to
- You are confident
- You stand out in a crowd because of who you are, not just what you look like

- You can disagree and still see both sides
- You always seem to ask too many questions
- You find me interesting
