I am a graduate student at Stanford. While I'm on the planet, I'm using computers to help people become better educated.

I'm a nerd but I prefer hiking to video games, and speaking to people to IM. I'm told I'm opinionated, talkative, and decisive, but that's probably because of traditionally low standards for geeks.

I spend a lot of my time thinking about my research and how to make it even better.

I also spend a lot of time reading about random trivia, how people think, and how things work. If you know answers to any of these (or have wondered about these), you'll find me interesting: Why do shirts have collars? (Hint: long ago, collars could be detached from shirts), Why is an espresso called that? Is there an optimal way to tie shoelaces?

Traveling light and seeing cities between flights--it's really useful.
Learning (and later forgetting) new languages: at one point, I spoke 6. No longer the case, but always down to learn more.
Making great coffee. Seriously, if this grad school thing goes south, I'm totally opening a cafe!

I have green eyes. Which are sometimes described as blue. I am also told they change color.

The Internet, airplanes, ramen, coffee, a hoodie, and an SSH terminal ;)

rescuing babies out of burning buildings while playing chess at the same time! And that's on slow Fridays... (more seriously, getting dinner with friends).

Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes, the comic strip) is my hero. When I grow up, I'll be just like him.
