My self-summary
I must be a mermaid. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living. ~Anais Nin

I'm feminine, loving, kind, honest, and playful with a quick wit. Given my druthers, I'll choose adventure to tranquility, and to be with friends and family, but I'm happy in almost all situations. More than one person has suggested that I see the world through rose-colored glasses; I have yet to take that as anything but a compliment. :) But enough about me... let's talk about you!

I imagine you to be a kind person with a big heart. You meet life with positive energy and you embrace change as an opportunity. I hope you're a liberal so we can laugh at conservative politics (and weep when even a liberal government struggles). And while you don't believe in gods, ghosts or supernatural powers, you’re respectful of religious choices and of how other people see the world.... so other than those pot-shots at the Tea Party, you're a good man! :)

I wonder how we'll be together... I want to feel my pulse quicken when the phone rings and I think you're calling! Yes, I want to find a "partner" but I'm glad to wait till I really fall in love. So let's take things slowly.... I know this sounds old fashioned but maybe I can get away with it since I'm from Oklahoma. (I mean, some of us still live in teepees.. :)

Let's have fun finding out what we like to do together. Art, architecture, moving to music, theater, boating all come to mind but I'm glad to learn something new. I do hope that you love being near the water... When I'm near the ocean I feel at peace. I'm never as rested as when I've slept hearing wave crash through the night. We could walk on the beach (except it must be over-run with all of the OKC members who beach-walk. Hahaha) No matter....I tend to wade in, my shoes thrown, skirt drenched and with any luck my purse is with my shoes...
What I’m doing with my life
I gave-up a tenured professorship at University of North Carolina to follow love to New England. Since my divorce in 2001 I've lived in Boston and taught neurology tutorials to 2nd year medical students, and sometimes cognitive psychology discussions to undergraduates on the other campus.

I'm fortunate that my son and daughter-in-law also live in Boston. The rest of my family, parents. sister and brother-in-law, all dodge tornadoes in the midwest. Let's include both of our families and all of our friends in our lives together. We can entertain them at home with wine and cheese parties, picnics, dinners and then, when they’ve left and we’re two again, we can do the dishes and laugh at things that were said. :)

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite Books. Winnie The Pooh [A.A. Milne], The Language Instinct, How the Mind Works, The Better Angels of our Nature and other books by Steve Pinker, Physics of the Future [Michio Kaku], The Selfish Gene, The Structure of Magic I and II [Bandler and Grinder], The Catcher in the Rye (J.D. Salinger], and Passionate Love Letters: an Anthology of Desire [Michelle Lovic].

Movies. Annie Hall and other Woody Allen films, Black Swan, Aliens, Silence of the Lambs, Schindler's List, Casa Blanca, the Godfather Series, Young Frankenstein, Blade Runner, Goya's Dreams, Donnie Darko, Searching for Sugarman.

TV~ I rarely watch TV, but occasionally: The Daily Show, Colbert, and Animal Planet when it's not, once again, showing sharks eating seals. If I fall for you, we'll watch your series. :)

Theater. Last month I saw "All The Way" at the Harvard Loeb. Great! I've also loved Company, Curious Savage, Fiddler, Phantom... I haven't had the chance to go to opera often but it's exciting to think you might take me to the MET! I have the red backless dress; didn't you say you feel comfortable in a tux...?

Bluesy music like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nina Simone. Classical music, especially strings. Jazz, John Coltrane and Diana Krall. Who doesn't love Pink Floyd, Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones?

Food? A morning can't begin without strong, really good coffee and milk. I like a late evening barbeque when it's hard to see the grill... but a dinner overlooking the ocean always trumps all. Spicier the better... saag paneer and baingan bharta. Black olives. Buttery chardonnay.
The six things I could never do without
On a typical Friday night I am
stealing hubcaps.
