My self-summary
Sharp, decent guy with a full life and no idea how to sell himself on the internet.

This thing got long.
What I’m doing with my life
Putting a creative writing degree to good use... at a tech firm that does behavioral analytics. The people are smart and my conversations are real interesting.

Also getting a business off the ground devoted to channeling resources to NYC Public School art classes by making limited runs of product with local designers. (Message me if you're an art teacher or PS administrator or designer and want more details. This is not a date-getting ruse of any sort. Happy to give you info without strings attached.)

When I'm not doing those two things, see "Friday" section. I also like going to plays and readings... culture stuff. And checking freecabinporn.com.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I fussed with my books section for a while (am I naming books, or just authors? am I categorizing? would explanations be helpful? this site sends me down the dumbest mental rabbit holes ever) before giving up and just cranking it out in one free-associative go without revisions. So you can read these selections and their placements like a Rorschach test for my brain and its neural connections if you want. If you see any intrinsic logic, you're insane too. Let's grab that drink.

Cormac McCarthy, Haruki Murakami, David Mitchell
Ernest Hemingway, Robert Frost
Marilynne Robinson
Patrick Rothfuss, Lev Grossman
Mark Z Danielewski
Louise Gluck
JR Moehringer
Michael Lewis, Charles Duhigg, Nate Silver
Yasmina Reza
The G-D Hunger Games books, ASOIAF
Layperson about math / theoretical physics, like: The Universe and Dr. Einstein

And I'd have to be talked out of my desert island selection being The Complete Calvin and Hobbes Collection.

Movies got mashed together: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Lives of Others, No Country for Old Men, Closer, Best in Show, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, City of God, Tarantino stuff, The Big Lebowski

TV: the long form, HBO-style stuff everyone loves. I'll call out BSG and the clusterfuck that was LOST as two shows that asked the kind of questions I like, even if they didn't answer them.
Also watch some NBA basketball.

Favorite people making music today are Andrew Bird and Spoon. My cousins from central PA would say my taste is "hipster shit." But then I also listen to classic rock and everything in that weirdo Talking Heads kind of middle ground.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I feel about compromise.
Metaphysics.

Whether I should be stockpiling supplies (sacks of grain, canned fruit, penicillin) in some rural stronghold for the civilization crash that's coming in the next couple of years.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out somewhere, maybe on the divey end of the spectrum. Hopefully there's a jukebox around. I'm probably hashing out / evangelizing / arguing about the stuff in my books etc section.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–33
  • Near me
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you're improbably charming.

Also, you'd let me buy you a drink after a message or two. This site should be like a bar where everyone has a little info bubble above their head. It's a great mechanism for giving us an excuse to meet, and a context for our first conversation... and 99% of compatibility is felt in person, right?

Last thing: I'm not (too) delusional -- I know guys don't get much inbound here. It's a market system. But if you're intrigued don't leave yet -- just write me a couple of words, then let me visit your profile and I'll do the lifting and work up a real email. I'm just pretty sure like 300 absolutely perfect women have already slipped through the cracks.
