My self-summary
I'm a freelance academic. With a life-long interest in Politics, Consciousness, and all forms of Communication, I spent a decade at UofT working on Music Composition, Philosophy, Mathematics, Cognitive Science, and Artificial Intelligence, before working at a music software start-up and a music psychology lab. Then, while continuing a lot of the volunteer work I do at UofT running social discussion groups and playing student politics, I took an extremely long and wild holiday that hasn't fully ended yet.

More recently, some 'real' work has resumed: I taught computer programming abroad this summer at a digital media camp for teens, have been getting into web development, and give private instruction in a range of subjects.

I am a fierce piano improviser and am looking to meet and improvise with as many musicians as possible.

I am polyamorous and prefer to meet those who already have other partners, or often do.
What I’m doing with my life
Attending to the urgent needs of those I love. Working on the design of programming languages that will, via computer science, make it possible to, among other things, use philosophy, especially aesthetics, to generate music computationally. Trying to improve all forms of communication.
The first things people usually notice about me
Vary wildly, since I am wildly variable.

The six things I could never do without
- Sex
- Music
- Philosophy
- Time Travel
- A Genetic Legacy
- A Memetic Legacy
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How minds radically unlike ours might try to reach us, and how we might try to reach them.
On a typical Friday night I am
Debating Cognitive Science in a pub, hosting or attending a party, or snuggling with a partner.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can think of 'very private' things that I'm willing to admit here, but none of them is obviously 'the most' private of them. It might be that, for any private thing I'm willing to admit here, there's a still more private thing that I'm willing to admit here. Note that this is compatible with the fact that there are some things that are more private than anything I'm willing to admit here. (Proof left as an exercise to the reader.)
