What I’m doing with my life
Trying to be the person my dog seems to think I am.

I guess this is where I could mention the whole job thing? I make a living by keeping you living.
I’m really good at
Filling out dating essays with tangential non sequiturs!
The first things people usually notice about me
My jaw line. Or so I'm told. I know… weird, right?

If you've managed to somehow get near me without seeing me - which I assume can only happen in one epic game of Marco Polo - then I would say it's my never-ending tendency to volley back snappy commentary. Go ahead - give it a try : )
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
TV: The Daily Show and Colbert are the only things I watch reliably. Where the f will I get news I can trust when he leaves to host Late Night??? Sigh.

When I'm on a Netflix or Hulu spree, I'm all-up-ons some South Park, Scrubs, 30 Rock, Archer, HIMYM, the Walking Dead. Oh, and @Midnight - that show is awesome.

Music: Based on my iTunes music content, my top 5 are the National, the Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Arcade Fire, Deltron 3030, and DMB (I am, after all, a 30-something white dude).

Comedy: Eddie Izzard, John Oliver, and Louis CK make me laugh until I hurt in places I didn't even know I had.

Sports: I'm a New Yorker, and I'm still loyal to my teams. And now it's the bestest time of the year: hockey playoffs : )
The six things I could never do without
Serious answer? Nothing. I don't like the idea of being nonfunctional without something or someone (not to be confused with preferring to be single or alone).

But, since that answer is way too boring for a site like this, let's just go with...
- A sense of humor that's snappy and shows you know your way around words
- Great beer - both making and partaking
- Aliteration, apparently
- Charlie Murphy (my dog, not Eddie's brother)
- Something athletic. Tennis (or volleyball, hockey, softball, biking, or squash), anyone?
- Travel (like everyone else): exploring culture, history, and natural beauty. I'd personally pass on the resorts… but that's negotiable : )
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The difference in life between success and happiness.

And more importantly… how to take the perfect shirtless bathroom mirror selfie
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I sing a freelance song to my dog almost every day I come home from work, and I do it in a voice that's somewhere between "You're a mean one, Mr Grinch" and the voice that Jerry used when he gave his girlfriend's navel a personality.
… and if you can follow that wacky pairing of references, you're probably actively manic. But DEFINITELY just my type.

Other random fact? I have a massive celebrity crush on KT Tunstall. Yup. I'll own it. And you should probably just be comfortable with her being on my celebrity cheat list from the outset.
I’m looking for

You think words are awesome, and you've got a way with them

You have a thoroughly inappropriate sense of humor and apply it as often as possible to life

You are independent, self-sufficient, driven to succeed in the goals you set for yourself

You're aware enough of the world around you to discuss current events and express

You have some kind of sporty side (you don't have to camp for weeks on end or run ultra marathons, but you know how to get a lil sweaty). Bonus for tennis, volleyball, hiking, or biking

You have a career, pastime, or other pursuit that involves a dedication to something bigger than yourself
