I'm a well-educated man with an extremely varied background.
1. Initial realm of study - I was a composer/orchestral musician. While this may sound glamorous, it really wasn't. Rock musicians are sexy, bassoonists are not.
2. Second realm - I went to work at the zoo in wildlife conservation. I loved my time there and the world I was able to learn.
3. Today I am a teacher of English and reading in an inner city school. It's the most challenging thing I've ever done by a long shot.
I still love and am involved in all of my area. They make up who I am. I still compose music (I even write a blog about the art of composing), and I still teach music lessons). My hobby is bird watching and hiking, which keeps me connected with nature. I'm also finishing up my first novel (nearly done now!).
Here's the absolute truth. Because of my various pathways, I've been left out of a lot of social norms. I've been trying to rectify this over the past couple of years, but I am still behind. This means, that for a lot of reasons, I've never actually had a girlfriend. When I tell this to people, I get a lot of looks of shock and horror, but I assure you that I'm completely normal (well, I've got some lovable quirks...). I've just been focused on my intellectual pursuits.
I want to find someone who can challenge me intellectually. Someone whom I can stay up with until 4 in the morning debating the meaning of life. Someone who can make me laugh until my sides cramp. And someone that can teach me something new and fascinating.
