My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My name is Brian, I'm a journalist, editor and writer with a deep love of movies and an ever growing love of good music, beer and sports. I'm a smart, funny guy with a lot on my mind, a lot of opinions and a mind to say them, but I'll be sure to listen as much as I tend to talk.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm the News Editor for a pop culture website, where I write movie reviews, entertainment news briefs and more, and I edit the work of several other staff writers. Prior to common belief, as a movie critic, I actually don't hate most things.

I go see a lot of concerts, I watch the Bulls, Cubs, Bears and Hawks, I just got done with a heartbreaking season of fantasy football, I exercise, I eat out and go to bars and restaurants new and old with friends and family, I'm learning to play the guitar and have been playing for two years, I'm constantly going downtown and hope to move there. Somewhat less often, I read, play board games and video games, I ski, run, golf, bike and kayak, and I even dabble on piano.

Hopefully any of the above sounds fun or interesting to you.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My iPod Classic on long trips
2. A notebook for watching new movies
3. Evernote, probably the most useful app I've ever downloaded
4. Contacts and glasses
5. Sarcasm
6. List making
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Thinking about things critically. I don't subscribe to the idea that I like something or don't like something just because; I want to talk about things, explore new ideas and things and understand why things work.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Well, Jon Stewart isn't on on Fridays, so I love spending an evening with friends at a bar with a good craft brew or Jack and Coke in hand. If I'm not there, I'm at the movie theater or at a concert, maybe spending the night curled up with Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My friend has a crippling fear of snakes.

Shh! I wasn't supposed to tell you that. That was a secret.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You should message me if you thought we had things in common or I made you laugh or if you actually want to talk and get to know each other outside of this stupid profile.

I promise we can have a better conversation in person than I can muster in cliche pleasantries and ice breakers over OkCupid's chat, and I also promise I'm not a creep or that big of a jerk.

So please don't be afraid to reach out even if you shrug and think a few more figurative swipes to the left could find you someone better. Hopefully we can have an intelligent conversation, have some fun, try some new things and at least try to have a connection.
