I am witty, laid back, and gallant.
My Self-Summary
Hey everybody- You should know before you say anything that I'm
currently seeing someone. Things are going great, and I'm not
looking for anything romantic on this site right now. I'm leaving
it up because I'd still love to make some new friends.
There's not a whole lot to talk about here that isn't covered in
any of the other sections, so I'll keep it brief. My name's Brian.
I live in Grand Rapids, MI. I pride myself on a sense of humor,
though I tend to be sarcastic. Don't worry, though- if I'm
sarcastic towards you it just means that I trust you'll take it as
a joke and laugh it off. It's in my nature to make other people
happy- this leads to people walking all over me from time to time,
but more often than not it's worth it.
I find those little badge things at the bottom of my profile to be
highly inaccurate. Mathematically inclined? Less romantic?
Falsehood, I say!
Any questions, feel free to ask and I'll be happy to answer.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in my fourth year at Grand Valley State University. I'm a
creative writing major, so one can assume that I don't plan on
eating much after graduation. It's what I love, though, and I
wouldn't respect myself if I didn't go for it. I hope to get a job
as an editor somewhere, and possibly start my own publishing house
some day.
I'm also working part time for
GameBoyGirl's dad, operating a machine
to tool out parts. It's a pretty sweet job, and with any luck it'll
carry me through college.
I’m really good at
I like to think I'm a fairly proficient writer, since I hope to do
that for a living some day. I'm a good listener. I'm great at
getting things off of high shelves. I'm not a bad cook, especially
if you're looking for something grilled. I'm also pretty good at
Rock Band,
especially rocking that little plastic guitar.
The first things people usually notice about me
The first thing that people notice is my height- I can't count how
many conversations have started with, "You're tall!"
The people who see past that notice a goofy smile, curly hair, or
really light blue eyes.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books
----
I'm fond of Jim Butcher's "
The Dresden Files," as well as
the works of
Michael Crichton and
Stephen King. I
enjoyed "
The Lord of the Rings,"
including "
The
Hobbit." "
Ender's Game" is another good
one.
Douglas
Preston and
Lincoln Child are good, when I'm
in the mood for a mystery.
Movies
----
I'm a big fan of the "
Star Wars" movies, even the prequels.
The list also includes "
Juno," "
Wall-E," "
The Boondock Saints,"
"
Charlie
Bartlett," "
28 Days Later," "
Fido," "
Hot Fuzz," "
Shaun of the Dead," "
The Dead Poets
Society," "
Wristcutters: A Love
Story," and many more.
Television
----
Firefly,
Lost,
House,
Scrubs,
Bones,
Buffy the Vampire
Slayer,
Dr. Horrible's
Sing Along Blog (not really a show, but it deserves to be
mentioned somewhere), and a smattering of others.
Music
----
In general, I'll listen to just about anything. I'm not a fan of
country, but anything else is fair game.
Specifically, some of my favorite bands are as follows: Ludo,
Weezer, Say Anything, I Fight Dragons, Da Vinci's Notebook,
Blink-182, Ben Folds, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Domestic
Problems, Flobots, Fiction Plane, The Hush Sound, Jonathan Coulton,
Girl Talk, MC Chris, No More Kings, Regina Spektor, OK Go, The
White Stripes, and The Youngbloods Brass Band
Food
----
I enjoy Italian food and Japanese food (especially sushi). I'm also
fond of pub food and the kinds of specialty burgers you find at
little microbreweries and places of that ilk. I drink diet soda,
for the most part, and water. I'm not very picky, so anything that
gets put in front of me will be received with gratitude.
The six things I could never do without
1. My computer
2. My car (1999 Toyota Corolla, dark blue)
3. My phone
4. My iPod
5. My TV
6. My bed
I also have the standard items (friends, family, etc.), but I
figure most people value that sort of thing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'll spend my time thinking about nearly anything under the right
circumstances. The usual suspects range from death and dying to
brainstorming for something to write about. My mind tends to go off
on its own little rambles and I get dragged along with it. I day
dream when I should be doing, well, anything else, really.
On a typical Friday night I am
I work on Fridays, but after I get out I like to hang out with my
friends. It doesn't really matter if it's a crazy party or sitting
around and watching a movie, as long as I get to relax a bit. I
have friends all over the area, so I'm no stranger to driving
around.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I've had some issues with depression that I've been dealing with
for the last eight years or so. It's not really a big issue
anymore; as I've gotten older, I've gotten better at dealing with
it, but it's still something I experience from time to time and
it's only fair that I give you a warning.
You should message me if
You should message me if you're looking for an easy-going sort of
guy to talk to, be friends with, or start a relationship with. I'm
almost always on AIM, so feel free to drop me a line there as well.
The screen name is Brianhead27. You can usually count on me to
reply within a couple days, if not sooner.
