I study Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu and American Kenpo. I do this because it's hard, and doing hard things makes me a better person. I go to the gym; while I'm there I pick up heavy things and put them back down. I do this because I like being strong. I ride my bike everywhere, because I like being self-reliant.
I like to tell jokes, I really love off-color ones about penguins and nuns and leprechauns. I like to cook for my friends, and when I do, I go all out. I listen, in the true sense of the term. I laugh from my belly, and it's almost a roar.
I'm trying to learn the guitar, because I would love to start making music again. I'm interested in massage and physical therapy, and may go back to school to study that. But right now, I'm focused on earning my black belts in DZR and Kenpo, while pursuing the other things I've mentioned.
Marcus Aurelius wrote "Stop wasting time philosophizing about what it means to be a good man. Be one."
I love that quote.
