My self-summary
I'm a nerd. This informs almost everything else about me. What I like, I am very into. If I like something, I'll read the books and comics, play the games and watch the TV shows or movies.

I'm a nice guy (though I'd hardly say if I wasn't). I'm working on being both a librarian and a writer, two of the four things I wanted to be when I was young (the other two being a Jedi and a superhero - still a long way off, those ones).

Oh, and I always have at least one book with me, in case of unexpected free time.
What I’m doing with my life
Working in a publishing company in Cork and trying to write as much fiction as I can.
I’m really good at
Writing...sometimes.

Video games, except Tekken-style beat 'em ups.

Researching. Seriously. No, really.

Organising things. It's my job and I had no skills when I started, now I'm pretty damn good at it.
The first things people usually notice about me
My fedora when I'm wearing it.

Otherwise, I have no idea.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
As ever, so hard to choose, easier to just list. As noted above, I'm like to be a geek about things. If I like the movie, I probably played the games, read the books, listened to the music, etc.

Books: Star Wars novels, Skulduggery Pleasant, 1984, The Master and Margarita, classic sci-fi novels, Terry Pratchett's Discworld and other novels, classic noir novels, Handling the Undead, World War Z, The Thin Man, The Maltese Falcon, Philip K Dick and Issac Asimov, The Princess Bride, Ghosts of Manhattan, Matthew Reilly, Zorro by Isabel Allende. I'll read almost anything once.

Comics: The Ultimates (Millar and Hitch run), Astonishing X-Men (Whedon and Cassaday run), Invincible, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Starman, Sandman Mystery Theatre, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Batman: Year One, The Man Who Laughs, The Authority, The Sandman, The Walking Dead, Buffy: Season 8, Angel: Season 5, X-Factor (current run), Atomic Robo, Scott Pilgrim

Movies: Too many. Some from every decade going back to the silent era. Just a few that come to mind. (NOTE: all movies are originals unless otherwise mentioned - you have been warned): Plenty of noir and science fiction, and the occasional musical, such as Singing in the Rain. Assault on Precinct 13, The Taking of Pelham 123, Iron Man 1 + 2, The Incredible Hulk, The Star Wars Trilogy, the good Star Trek movies, X-Men 1 + 2, SPider-Man 1 + 2, The Incredibles, Battle Royale, Eyes Without a Face, Let the Right One In, 30 Days of Night, Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Thin Man Series, The Maltese Falcon, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Serenity, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Zelig and various Woody Allen films, The Fall, anything by The Marx Brothers, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Kick-Ass.

TV Shows: Sherlock, Doctor Who, Star Trek (various), Community, Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Star Trek (TOS, TNG and DS9), Torchwood, Gilmore Girls, Spooks (MI5 for our American friends), Frasier, Smallville, Coupling, Arrested Development, Spaced, Black Books,

Cartoons: Most of the DCAU, X-Men Evolution, Animaniacs, Invader ZIM!!!, Fairly Odd Parents, Family Guy, Robot Chicken

Music: Classic Swing Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, a variety of things from the 1920s-1960s, a little less from the 1970s-1990s and almost nothing from the last 10 years.

Video Games: Bioshock 1 + 2, Fallout series, Monkey Island series, comic-related games, Star Wars-related games, Left 4 Dead series, Half Life series, Portal, several Grand Theft Auto games, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time series, Psychonauts, Resident Evil series (except 5 - oh, how I hate you 5), Silent Hill series

Food: Milk, Italian food, fish, burgers, steak, Vienetta
The six things I could never do without
1) Friends

2) Internet

3) Media

4) Nerding Out

5) Electricity (see 2, 3 and often 4)

6) Something suitably witty
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Pointless, nerdy things.

Why I devote so much more time to writing fan fiction than I do to writing my own.

Why companies take their adverts off of YouTube.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with friends, either inside or in a quiet pub, chatting.

At home, alone, watching TV shows, movies or playing games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I miss time periods I never lived in.

My favourite Doctor is the Eighth Doctor.

I prefer Sandman Mystery Theatre to The Sandman and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to Watchmen.

Terry Pratchett once got my autograph. Seriously
