My self-summary
Hi there, I'm Ross.

I'm looking for friends and people to chat about anything with.
Say hi.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a maths and physics graduate from Bristol University, qualified maths teacher, and now I volunteer a lot of my time improving education for LGBT people in Bristol.
I'm in a relationship with thelostmark.
I’m really good at
collecting seemingly unconnected and arbitrary pieces of information and somehow not being able to forget them.

I'm 'good' at lots of other things too, or at least try to be. Like cooking Italian food. Whacking out a report the day before the deadline. Not trying all year and then picking up the important info/skills in time for the exam. Swimming in the rough sea near home and not drowning. I have a passable drunken dance, only if I'm in a group of similarly shocking people. I can pretend to know about a subject if I have read the Wikipedia page. I'm pretty good at picking up a new skill, finding out how something works or being set a new task with no experience.

I'm really no good at all at singing. Or lying convincingly. Or figuring out the meaning behind a text/song/artwork without help.
The first things people usually notice about me
that they've seen me somewhere before.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Stephen Fry/QI, pop science and philosophy, and for some reason atlases are really interesting. Also Narnia/Potter for light escapism.

Movies: Amelie, The History Boys, most Robin Williams, British comedies, Godfathers, Ghibli films and Disney/Pixar.

TV: Doctor Who, QI, NMTB, HIGNFY, Star Trek, Horizon, WDYTYA, cooking shows, gardening shows, Grand Designs, history shows, any science shows. If it's on BBC Four, I probably like it.

Music: alt/indie/pop, chilled alt, Bristol, 80s Scandinavian. Alphabeat, Bon Iver, Fever Ray, Feist, James Blake, Florence + the Machine, Marina and the Diamonds, Massive Attack, Spandau Ballet, Yann Tiersen, Sigur Ròs, The Knife, Lykke Li, Blondie, MGMT, Muse, Groove Armada, Vampire Weekend, Lady Gaga, Björk, and Penguin Cafe. My last.fm is at www.last.fm/user/rossoharrison.

Food: Italian - tiramisù is just incredible; making fresh pizza and pasta is a far too common occurrence in my house. I seem to use tomatoes, onions, garlic and herbs every day; stir fries, curries, and proper home-made roast dinner (when I'm at mum's house I give in to the chickeny goodness). I love making bread. I love Pieminister. I eat quite healthily, and make almost all of my own food, and only eat animals occasionally when I'm out or if it's already been served (i.e. at mum's house) – even then it's chicken. When eating out, dessert is a must – often more than one. Drinks-wise, I love fresh juice, lots of teas, Amaretto, Côtes du Rhone wine, Pimms, and local cider.
The six things I could never do without
my close friends, something to keep me busy, knowledge, modern technology, and my freedom to do what I want in life and be who I want to be.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
everything. My day, my work, my life, the world, science, the future, what I'm going to do in life – I tend to spend an hour or so thinking before I can go to bed. Unless something else is happening at the time.
On a typical Friday night I am
with friends. Usually doing something interesting at a local venue. Music, alcohol, food, a bit of culture, and laughter spring to mind.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like guys
  • Ages 19–28
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
you'd like to, for any reason:

If you'd like to talk.
If OkCupid told you to.
If you really like sending messages.
If you're curious or bored.
If you wonder why you have 94 % match even though we've never met, whether people's tastes and opinions can be that coincidental through choice, or because we're hostage to memes and our surroundings' influences?
If you happen to like 22/M/Gay/Bristol with a purple top.
If you've forgotten my contact details and OkCupid is the only place to find me.
If you're a spambot and you spotted that there was a form to automatically fill in – everybody loves natural viagra and helping Nigerian businessmen.
