My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I think of myself as a flâneur (a fancy 19th century French history term for a guy who loiters around cafés and walks the city, taking in its atmospherea loafer). But, I'm also a country rube from a place that features prominently in the Grapes of Wrath. And, even though I've broadened my horizons, I'm still most comfortable with the stuff I was into growing up.

I'm on CouchSurfing (which kind of got ruined in the past couple years) and compulsively check into foursquare (well, used to, that also got ruined in the last couple years). I'm dilettantish in pursuing most of my interests, which are numerous. I'm a complete hypocrite, but I feel bad about it. I actually did go to Space Camp and even there I was one of the weird/ostracized kids.

"Arma-se em carapau de corrida."

I used to have an HO scale train layout. And I want to have one again.

Also, I'm probably going to be in Albany every now and then for work and it would be cool to know some people there.

Also I'm from California and go back now and then.

And I'd kind of like to move back to the west coast sometime in the future, especially San Francisco, Seattle, or Portland.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to get the good ending in Bust-a-Move.

Also, just finished law school and got me a public interest fellowship. I specialize in bird law.

Also, trying to learn about bikes, cities and urban planning, trains, activism/advocacy, gardens, people, ceramics, whiskey, music. I really want to start playing music with people again (singing & guitar, bass, or moog). Also, I guess I should note somewhere that I occasionally run distance (prefer 10k) when I'm not too lazy.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
ain't good at pretty talkin, that's for damned sure

Though unprompted, I'll throw in a few video games for good measure: Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim; III - Morrowind; BioShock (1 and Infinite); Portal; Legend of Zelda (especially LttP and OoT); Day of the Tentacle; Myth II: Soulblighter; GoldenEye; Worms Armageddon; Portal; Earthbound; Super Mario RPG; StarTropics; Mario Kart (all of them); Mass Effect; Assassin's Creed (I love me some historical environments).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why am I such an idiot?

Why are my plants dying?

Are archaeopteryx fossils still cool now that they've found feathered raptor fossils?

Where can I get the music they play at Mamoun's Falafel?

and reddit, along with its impact on how effectively my time is spent
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Doing this with you (you would probably be the Butt-head to my Beavis)

To be honest, I don't really go out much when I don't have something specific and exciting to go to.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes a crooner version of "Get Low" by Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz randomly pops into my head. Like, imagine it sung by Dean Martin to the tune of "Sixteen Tons." As far as I know, no such song exists.

I think that Yakety Sax (the Benny Hill theme) and fast motion can make everything funny.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
(1) You want company for
(a) video games on SNES, NES, Genesis, xbox 360, Wii, or any other platform (seriously, I want more friends with whom I can play or talk about games, whether amorous or platonic, so let me know you're into that and you're at the top of the list);
(b) board games like CharDee MacDennis, Tongo, Settlers of Catan, Cranium, Munchkin, Nuclear War, Dominion, Fluxx, Risk;
(c) karaoke and soju;
(d) ska shows (a la high school, and you'd best be skanking);
(e) bike rides;
(f) fado (preferably live)(music at 1:02);
(g) bowling;
(h) a pilgrimage to a Frank Lloyd Wright building, or
(i) finding kitsch things, like the things in this map I made for Los Angeles

(2) You are learning or already speak (European) Portuguese or German.

(3) You can play Smiths songs on bass

(4) You're a ginger. Not that you shouldn't if you aren't, but red/orange hair is just cool. It's almost as cool as short haircuts.

(5) You can help me get 1990s computer games to play again/emulate.

(6) You're into kink/bdsm and/or think of yourself as at least somewhat queer.* It's by no means required that you fit these criteria, but find me on FetLife if you do the former.

*Which I relate with, but in my case in more of a not feeling like gender is part of my identity and having a pan-leaning range of sexual attraction and interest in alternative sexual activities kind of way, rather than identifying as a particular other option, so I feel slightly presumptuous using the term myself.

Really though, sex preferences, polyamory, and a lot of other things are all secondary to just finding someone I like, with whom I can watch shows, talk about games, and cuddle. Everything after that is relatively less important.
