My self-summary
I am happiest where the only laws are those of nature, the only traffic is wildlife and the only authority is the weather. I love exploring outdoors and having the freedom go wherever I want and in any direction at any time. I have a long list of remote fishing holes, caves, bone yards, cliffs, mining camps animal trails and other little easter eggs I've discovered that I want to share with you.

I am the mix of a stubborn, outdoorsman, craftsman, motorcycle racing, geologist father and a comedic, musician, psychologist mother.

I also enjoy doing a "nerd binge" about once a year for a couple weeks. In 2012 it was developing an autonomous cat food can collecting and stacking robot for a competition at my alma mater...which I won:) This year it's turning out to be a mutant vehicle.

I’m a positive person; I don’t dwell very long in the lows. I bounce back really quickly.

I have a pink Jesus statue that tells you your fortune. I won it at a white elephant party. It's ambiguous magic 8-ball answers are as good as proselytizer's.

I rediscovered my love for playing the sax recently.
I'm an ENTJ.
I've never had a cavity.
I get along best with people who enjoy climbing trees.

I run, climb, mountain & road bike, backpack, snowboard, ski, snowshoe, salsa and fish. Sadly, I'm doing less triathlons, SCUBA, dirt biking, volleyball and music these days.

I always get the "How have you not seen this?" introduction to memes. Somehow I'm just not in tune with that stuff.

Also, I'm actually 6'5" but apparently being over 6'4" automatically excludes one from searches where height is a factor so I fibbed a little...shhh.
What I’m doing with my life
After college, I naively accepted an absurdly unchallenging engineering job at a government mega-conglomo-corp, so I quickly forfeit all free time and jumped back into part-time grad school and started competing in various engineering competitions to get the mental stimulation I required and prove I was worthy of bigger things. I won some, I lost some, but it paid off. Now I design the electronics for robotic walking rehabilitation exoskeletons alongside an incredible team of engineers and I love it.
I’m really good at
Getting poison oak, having beginner's luck, handstands in weird places, befriending animals, scaling buildings/trees/rocks, being an uncle, posing as an object to be scaled by small children, fabricating or fixing just about anything, playing pranks on coworkers
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd like to think it's my dashing good looks and rock-solid handshake, but it's probably my height or that I'm holding my head and swearing because I hit it on the doorway again.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My bookcase is loaded down primarily with worn climbing books, weighty tomes of engineering drudgery, various Lonely Planet guides and a Rubik's cube.
My Kindle, however, is a diverse animal. It's faux pages have recently been graced by Good Morning Midnight, The Road, Game of Thrones, Born to Run, 90 Day Geisha, The Book of Illusions, Sunset Park, Travels in the Scriptorium, Entreleadership, Fifty Shades of Grey, The Chamber, Hannibal, Hunger Games to name a few. Blah, Blah, Blah...I read when I find time. Maybe you do too.

I eat a lot of food. I need a lot of food. The frustrating part is that my palate is tuned more towards roasted brussels sprouts or Hass avocados. I just have to make sure to wash down the flavorful grub with with a huge plate of dense, heavy food to fuel me.

I really only turn on my TV when I'm sick at home. I'm out being active with my friends, not sitting at home.

Movies: Edward Scissorhands, Winter's Bone, Religulous, Hard Candy, Little Miss Sunshine, psychological thrillers

Music: bluegrass, classical, metal, house, jazz, blues, big band, opera but my musical preferences change with the tide.
The six things I could never do without
Laughs to share with the people I love
Activities to share with the people I love
Places to share with the people I love
Gear to share with the people I love to survive in the (above mentioned) places I love.
Awareness of my boundaries (so I can push them)
Poison oak. Not by choice. I just can't seem to stay out of it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Who I am and what impact I want to have in the world
What motorcycle to buy next - edit - got a Vstrom 650!...so fun!...but then again, a dirt bike is probably next.
How how best to spent my 168 hours each week. (I have pie charts for this)
On a typical Friday night I am
Here's my most recent Fridays in chronological order:
-Climbing then beer & sausages
-Rocking the saxophone and (dramatically) singing Chocolate Rain at my company's annual luau and talent show, then a friend's art show, then beers & billiards, then Cuban salsa (busy night)
-Being lame and updating my OKC profile
-Leading visiting family on a San Francisco insider's tour (food tasting and lube wrestling included
-Heading to Tahoe for three days of snowshoeing backpacking and, unfortunately, several hours of MacGuivering the Jeep out of a snow bank.
-Enjoying some of Distrikt's unse-unse music at Inner Mission
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I might secretly envy the homeless lifestyle. I go camping all the time. Even weeknights. I just love sleeping in the woods.
