My self-summary
I'm a fairly recent transplant to Seattle, and spent most of my life across the three corners of Washington.

Being excitable about a wide variety of subjects means my conversation style ranges between impassioned charisma and maximum doofus, often in the same sentence.

I collect hobbies, usually juggling a few at a time. (Mental note: Learn to juggle.) These range from common pursuits like gaming, to Balinese shadow puppet sci-fi rock opera. Right now it's crochet. If something sounds fun, I'll give it a go.

One of my greatest joys is sharing something I like with a friend. It helps that there's a whole planet worth of things to share, and I'm always searching for more, from TV shows and movies to flavors of tea. I love being a repository of knowledge on subjects my friends might be interested in.
What I’m doing with my life
Story time: Recently I was attacked by a wild job search. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, the clear answer was "Wizard". So off went an application. Well, that position was filled. It's a good thing, too; instead I landed an amazing career with one of the best employers in the world.

With mind blown and world turned pleasantly up-side down, I'm now working to spruce up the other areas of my life.
I’m really good at
Make Believe (Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Adventure Time!)
Rock Band.
Inappropriate naptime.
Writing - when I find the time and muse.
Fixing/building/transmuting computers.
Finding excuses to use parentheses (It's like hugging words!)
The first things people usually notice about me
I make Conan O'Brien look tan.
My head is bright and shiny.
I'm very calm, some say chill.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Good Omens, Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Snow Crash, The Secret Book of Gnomes, A Wizard of Earthsea, Blood Meridian.
Comics: Most of Warren Ellis' work (Transmetropolitan, Nextwave, Doktor Sleepless), Sandman (and Lucifer), Watchmen, Y - The Last Man.

Movies: The Big Lebowski, A Muppet Christmas Carol, Ghost in the Shell, Amelie, The Princess Bride, the Taste of Tea, The Fountain, Pan's Labyrinth, and most anything by Wes Anderson, David Cronenberg, or Park Chan-wook. I also love documentaries, but fiction gets a grip on me like nothing else.

Television: Community, 30 Rock, Fringe, Misfits, Psych, Modern Family, Supernatural, A Game of Thrones, Archer, Eagleheart, Adventure Time, Luther, and Doctor Who.

Music: My all-time favorites are Yoko Kanno and Radiohead. Current favorites include Mumford & Sons, Metric, Muse, Neko Case, Fleet Foxes, The Magnetic Fields, Hybrid, E.S. Posthumus, Skrillex, and Daft Punk.

Food: Jambalaya. Spicy [anything] Chicken [anything]. Naan bread. Crispy cucumbers and fresh spinach. Black olives. Black licorice (or anise, like Jaegermeister/Sambuca). Bananas. Yogurt!
The six things I could never do without
Good food, a soundtrack, friends, imagination, language, and a challenge.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Games. Board games, video games, roleplaying games. I love to think about their structure and purpose just as much as strategy. This was a big part of landing my kick-ass job.
New ways to get a point across. Rhetoric goes under-appreciated.
Fiction.
Correlation.
Petrichor.
On a typical Friday night I am
Exploring new restaurants and fun spots around Seattle.
Playing board games at a cafe or pub.
Going out to an improv show, or a "cult classic" at the Egyptian.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I used to be afraid of losing my hair. What a fool I was!
