My self-summary
Hi there!

Well, I've just turned 30 (eep), originally from Ireland but have been living in Edinburgh for about 5 years. I'm a graphic designer working for an advertising and marketing agency.

I have a very sarcastic sense of humour and a very dry wit, I suppose that's what I get for being Irish. I'm a bit of a film geek, love music (well, who doesn't) and I read a lot. I'm full of useless information so I'd be a good addition to any pub quiz team. Honestly, don't really know what else to say here, so if you want to know more, I guess you'll just have to ask!

Oh, I do have a hatred for txt speak, I like my sentences properly punctuated!

Well, thanks for reading!

Apologies, I really should update this thing sometime.
What I’m doing with my life
Work, eat, sleep. Repeat ad nauseum. I suppose it does help that I really love my job. I do try find time for the cinema, reading, cycling, the pub, museums, galleries, people watching, good coffee. Trying to maintain my creativity in a corporate world.

The plan for 2013 is to increase my creativity and get back into drawing and photography. 2012 was the year to give up smoking (done), get a job I love (done) and get my finances back on track (...kind of, definitely getting there!).

I've also decided to enter a 100 mile cross-country mountain bike marathon - so I need to start training for that.
I’m really good at
Designing things. Being completely oblivious to the rest of the world. Not being completely oblivious to the rest of the world when I'm cycling too fast through city centre traffic (yes pedestrians, I'm aiming for you).

Giving advice, honestly, I'm brilliant at it. Following my own advice - not so good. Oh and pub quizzes, I'm a wealth of general knowledge/useless information and movie trivia. Also, I'm really quite good at noticing the Wilhelm Scream in movies - does anyone even get that reference?.
The first things people usually notice about me
Not really sure... apparently I look like I "walk with purpose". Don't know if that counts?

Edit - The tache is gone!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Far, far, far too many to list here, besides, it would take me an age to type! Some of my favourite authors (in no particular order): Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Haruki Murakami, Neil Gaiman, Phillip Pullman, have just finished Stephen King's Dark Tower series, err... I'll think of more later. I've just had a bit of an Amazon splurge and now have another 8 books to add to my ever growing "still to read" bookshelf.

As for movies... hmm, I'll give anything a look once really, and if I like it I'll watch it a hundred times. Some favourite films in no particular order: Alien, Bladerunner, The Empire Strikes Back, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, anything by Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Coen Brothers, It's a Wonderful Life, lots of 80's movies. I do love sci-fi and fantasy but my tastes do extend to all genres and types. I often find myself putting on some cheesy action flick, watching it in the background as I skim through design books and articles.

I don't really watch TV - actually this is a lie - I don't own a TV but I watch a lot online, so I'm very picky as to what I watch. Despise reality TV - it makes me angry, and sad, and worried for the state of the human race. But things I do watch; QI, Mock the Week, University Challenge, Futurama, Red Dwarf, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Have I Got News for You. I've got massive amounts of respect for Charlie Brooker - it feels like he's one of the few people in the media talking sense.

Food, well again, I'll try pretty much anything once. Thai, Japanese, Italian, but you just can't beat an excellent cut of fillet steak, cooked very rare, with a nice glass of red to go with it. I'm a fairly decent cook - I like good food, no one else is going to cook it for me!

Music, well, a bit eclectic I think. Again, no particular order; Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Underworld, Justice, Digitalism, Soulwax, Gomez, Beatles, Death in Vegas, Nick Cave, James, DJ Shadow, Beastie Boys, Rush, Bill Withers, Warm Digits, John Talabot, plus countless more. I will always have a soft spot for Eighties cheese too.
The six things I could never do without
My glasses, quite obvious really.
A notebook and pencil.
A good set of speakers, what's the point listening to good music on a crappy sound system?
Coffee. I love coffee.
My friends and family. Doesn't really need an explanation.
One more? Oh I don't know? Cheese maybe? Or biscuits, yeah maybe biscuits.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Other people, my friends and family. I'd like to think I'm quite a selfless person and always do everything in my power to help the people I care about.

And recently - whether or not to set up the website www.okcuspid.com for dentists looking to find love.
On a typical Friday night I am
Possibly still working - I'm taking on a lot of freelance work at the moment, or out having a few drinks with friends, or food, or the cinema, or just chilling out at home with a movie and a takeaway - a Thai takeaway usually.

Adding to this that I am now getting more and more frustrated with having nothing to do on my weekends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have mild OCD when it comes to eating food. I proportionately eat everything on my plate so that by the time I get to the last bite, I still have a little piece of everything to enjoy. If you watch me eat you'll notice I spend quite a lot of time ensuring I'm on target.

I eat pringles and chocolate at the same time - tasty.

Also at last count I own 17 shirts. I don't even wear shirts to work. So I think that 17 may be a little excessive.
