What I’m doing with my life
Using technology to help people learn better.
Occasionally just helping people learn things the good old fashion
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
My prodigious vocabulary, my keen perspicacity, my self-aware
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: My favorite ever is Ender's Game, but I've always wondered if that's just because I read it at that exact right time in middle school. You know, that moment where a book can hit your brain in a way that nothing else ever has before. Had I picked up Lord of The Rings that night, I'd feel like a more qualified Geek.
Movies: The Godfather, Superhero movies that take themselves way too seriously (and plenty that don't), Grosse Point Blank, The Muppet Movie, Secretary
Television: I've loved television too much and too long. Now I have to parcel it out to myself lest I become an addict. I'm currently doling the British Sherlock out to myself a little at a time. All time favorites include The Simpsons, The Muppet Show, the Soprano's, and Freaks and Geeks.
Food: Too many to count. I love complex and interesting across nearly every culture, but my simple favorite is creamy scrambled eggs and a toasted bagel with plenty of butter.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, lovers, narrative fiction, the chance to learn new things, meditation & exercise (though I have tried to forgo most of them at some point with poor results)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How we learn, how we teach
On a typical Friday night I am
Eating good food. Laughing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm ludicrously Googleable once you know my very foreign sounding name. After that, I don't think there's anything private left, hence the lack of photos for my students to find. I'll happily share them privately.
You should message me if
- You're looking for some adventures of the mind and body (and possibly a few of the spirit and palate).
- You take think just about anything can and should be laughed at, but still take things way too seriously
- You aren't a girly girl, but enjoy dressing like one
- You appreciate the lost art of those who still strive to divide messages into discrete groups of words commonly called paragraphs.
