My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My favorite thing is anything that makes me belly laugh. My second favorite thing is meeting people. My third favorite thing is listing out my favorite things.

I like to take care of myself and stay healthy, but it is often fueled by my desire for burgers, ice cream, pancakes, etc. I like to plan, but sometimes prefer to do things in the spur of the moment. I contain multitudes (and sometimes quote Whitman).

I'm looking for someone to go check out food, concerts, festivals, movies, and all the other cool stuff in this city.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I taught college English for 8 years. I loved it, but moved into the tech world for a number of reasons and am slowly working my way to doing some good in this world. I occasionally teach a class on the side to keep it real. Before that, I was working in the film biz for a brief stint.

Now, I am trying to figure out this vast new world of having some free time. I hear people get hobbies, so I am about to venture into learning Spanish and/or the piano. Also, I love to cook; it keeps me sane.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Telling stories, cooking, joking, karaoke, suggesting new music to friends, high fives (there's a fool-proof strategy to it), getting to movies on time, and maybe some other stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I hope it's my shining personality, but it's probably my red beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: One Hundred Years of Solitude, White Noise, Michael Chabon, McSweeneys, Cormac McCarthy's stuff, Haroun and the Sea of Stories, David Mitchell, Freedom, Whitman, Emerson, Wallace Stevens... This list goes on.

Movies: Tarantino, Coen Brothers, Lynch, smart blockbusters, Leone, Eternal Sunshine, Lawrence of Arabia, Blade Runner...This is next to impossible for me to answer. I love movies, but I am not a snob, and I love when someone asks me to recommend one.

TV: Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec, Portlandia, Homeland, Mad Men, Game of Thrones... this is also really hard to answer.

Music: Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, The Knife, Beirut, Girl Talk, The Roots, Gershwin, The Shins, Outkast, NPR (mostly the talk stuff, so this might not count) ... pretty much anything but pop country. And I love going to shows. Seriously, my lists for this stuff are too long.

Food: I love good food without prejudice.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Something to laugh about
2. Tasty vittles
3. My family/friends
4. Great music
5. Stories
6. Having something new to learn
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What's up next.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
There are times when I get the beginning of Miami Sound Machine's "Rhythm is Gonna Get You" stuck in my head and I have no idea how it got there.
