I'm from the Chicago suburbs. Last year I moved to Guam to take a
job. I'm typically rather polite, but sometimes I become a bit more
more playfully pointed. I can be reserved, and I can also be overly
talkative when I'm engaged in interesting conversation. I'm
something of a dilettante rather than an actual Renaissance Man.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working as a law clerk for a judge.
I’m really good at
I'm a pretty good cook and an occasional poet. I fenced (the sword-fighting sport, not selling stolen goods) in college, but I'm out of practice now. I'm also a decent skier. I just learned how to scuba dive and I intend to get better at it. I can converse well, as long as the subject is interesting. I like to think I'm rather good at writing and thinking. I excel at taking standardized tests, for whatever that's worth. I would have been a good scholar-official in Ming China.
The first things people usually notice about me
My orange hair.

The six things I could never do without
Information (particularly news, I get antsy on vacations if I don't
have internet access or decent newspapers)
My iTunes library
Either a running internal monologue, or
Internal background music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics, law, history, philosophy, strategy, business and
economics, art and aesthetics, social conflict, culture, fashion,
sport, and the books of various long dead thinkers. Also lots of
rather less worthy things.
On a typical Friday night I am
On Guam the options are a bit more limited than in the big city.
Often I'm out getting drinks with friends. I go to the movies
fairly often. If I'm not going out I often try my hand at cooking
something new, and perhaps play videogames or read.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was about six or seven I got my hand caught in an elevator
door. Fortunately my father pulled it open before it could injure
me. But I was still terrified of elevators for the next few years.
