My self-summary
Things my friends will tell you about me (and this does not imply full disclosure):

-I laugh often, loudly and sometimes inappropriately.
-I will pull out a map, close my eyes, put my finger down and find out where I'm going on my next road trip.
-Then I'll make The. Perfect. Mixtape. Seriously, you'll weep at how perfect it is.
-I am forever trying to get my kayak in the water, but am rarely succeeding lately.
-I know lots of bits about lots of things. People are often surprised when they find out that I know about motorcycles or ancient civilizations, or nuclear fission (ok, just a smattering about that. I've never been to the CERN facility.)
-This summer, I am determined to try paddle boarding. I was going to when I was in Kauai last year, but didn't manage to fit it in between the jeeping and ziplining and beach hopping.
-I love NPR. Wait, Wait, This American Life and Car Talks are favorites.
-I can make a flame thrower out of a can of Aqua Net. I have quite a MacGyver-esque skill set.
-I'm from Tacoma, but stuck in Kent for the moment while I get my townhouse ready to sell. I'm working hard not to end up wearing acid washed jeans, sucking down giant vats of Starbuck's and yelling loudly into my cell phone; seems to almost be a requirement to live in this town.
-I have a certain amount of smarts. I am also a smart-ass at times.
-I am Western Washington born & raised but I don't know how to snow ski. Of course, there's a story to that.
-I am awesome with words, but crappy at Words With Friends. Go ahead, kick my butt, it won't be hard, but I promise it'll be fun anyway!

Basically, I'm just a nice girl (mostly!) who's looking for a funny guy with a rapier wit, and who'll say JINX when we both say in unison... "Trust me, this'll be fun!"
What I’m doing with my life
I like to work with my hands. Things like welding, stained glass, building are what I enjoy when I can find the time.

I love to see what there is to see, near or far. I have a huge To-Go list, and need to make opportunities to start crossing some items off my check list.

My daughter and I go on adventures together. Sometimes that means getting frozen yogurt, dancing in the living room or nature walks, but it's all about laughing no matter what we end up doing!
I’m really good at
Keeping a smile on my face while the shit hits the fan behind me.

Making you laugh.

Not necessarily in that order.
The first things people usually notice about me
Most of the time, it's either my eyes or my laugh, or my freckles if it's been sunny out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I kind of range everywhere from Dorothy L Sayers to Ian Fleming. I do have a bit of a Bond thing. Well, a LOT of a Bond thing, I have a bunch of vintage Ian Fleming books. I also like Raymond Chandler, Malcom Gladwell, PG Wodehouse.

Music - AC/DC, Royskopp, Snow Patrol, Edith Piaf, Afro Celt Soundsystem, The Pixies, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, The Avett Brothers, Tricky, Modest Mouse, Judas Priest, Thievery Corporation, The Xx, Silversun Pickups, Basement Jaxx, Style Council, Tricky, Kurt Vile, Okkervill River, The The, Bauhaus, Joy Division, New Order, Chemical Brothers, Lykke Li, Citizen Cope... Oh, gobs more, I won't bother with the rest, you get the picture.

I watch Big Bang Theory, Poirot, BBC America's Top Gear (UK), Flight of the Conchords, Doctor Who, random stuff on Sprout (I draw the line at Barney), BritComs. I do admit to watching the ghost shows sometimes. I know they're faked and corny, but I just can't tear myself away.

I'm kind of picky with my movie choices. Movies I do like include Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, The Hangover, Amelie, the Thin Man series (actually, most movies pre-Hays Code), Repo Man. I love Kung Fu and cheezy SciFi B-movies, too.
The six things I could never do without
Warning, this may get corny and is not in order of importance:
• my morning coffee (french press, too clutzy for a Chemex)
• chocolate (but not the super dark kind)
• the water (Could never live in a place where I couldn't see it everyday)
• my daughter (obvs)
• laughter (I don't do well with Type A's or Eeyore's)
• fresh apricots or raspberries (they have to border on squishy)

And is it just me, or does a list of 6 seem kind of random? Why not 5, or bump up to Top Ten?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Just little things, like Life, the Universe and Everything. You know, like you do.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday nights are usually home with my daughter. When I can get out for an evening, I like to hang out with friends and see where the night takes me. These days, I keep things a little more low-key. I like drinks at 1022South, beers at The Parkway, or bumming around Seattle checking out the SLUT. Ha. Still makes me laugh every time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I told ya, then I'd have to kill ya. That's way more mess than I'm willing to deal with.
I’m looking for
  • Straight guys only
  • Ages 42–56
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
...you're a little more 21st century than 20th. Have any idea what Powell's in Portland is about. Like a good cup of coffee (and you know that does NOT mean Starbuck's). Or, just message me if you found something interesting above that sparked your interest!
