My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a nice, normal, intelligent, active, fun, stable, professional, athletic, funny, fit, honest (and a host of other adjectives that really don't mean much when just words on a screen... lol) Monterey guy looking for a great connection. There's certainly plenty more to say and share, but having a preference for conversation over dissertation, I'll leave that for our interaction.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Appreciating the journey and those I share it with. The rest is just minutia.

In terms of life goals, my primary aspiration is to someday be widely recognized a "curmudgeon" (irresistible, I know, lol).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
... finding the humor in pretty much any situation, including laughing at myself on a frequent basis.

... generating long wandering rants about anything, everything, and nothing, and when truly inspired, on all three at the same time.

... erring on the side of "too much information" or making the random inappropriate comment or observation.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Shouldn't those other people answer this question? I really don't know what people notice first because I don't regularly quiz them to find out or collect first impression reviews. Although now that I think about it, a Yelp-styled site for single people would be pretty handy!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

My favorite book is the next book. I love to read and don’t do so nearly enough in my estimation. The majority of my reading falls either into historical accounts/historical fiction, or the thriller/legal thriller genres, with the occasional foray into the oddball slice of life title. Probably my all-time favorite book is Toole’s "A Confederacy of Dunces," and after that it really is too many to name. I do, however, tend to keep an eye out for anything by Phillip Margolin or Erik Larson.

I love movies but am horrible at remembering specific ones and have a hard time categorizing favorites, because I have so many for so many different reasons. For example I love my Nextflix On Demand because I have the queue loaded with mostly foreign, independent, and documentary films that I otherwise would have missed. And there are frequently ones in all of those genres that blow me away, but I never seem to be able to recall any of the titles after the fact. Instead the flicks that come to mind as favorites are the more well known ones like The Usual Suspects, Fargo, Sideways, Glengary Glen Ross, The Princess Bride, The Commitments, Blazing Saddles, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, and O Brother Where Art Thou to name a few.

My musical tastes are literally all over the board and near impossible to categorize. Music (along with visual and performance art) is a very powerful thing for me so my ipod is loaded with just about every genre represented in some form, allowing me to have access to whatever style suits my current mood. Rock, Alternative, and 70s-80s are probably the most widely represented genres in my collection, while country and techno are probably the least represented.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Why six? Who decided it could only be six? Was there a meeting or a vote I wasn't told about? Apparently item #1 that I need is a phone app to alert me when these types of decisions are being made!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
... the people who come up with these ridiculous profile questions on personals sites and shaking my head in disgust. And of course now I'm stuck thinking about: "Why six? Who decided it could only be six? Was there a meeting or a vote I wasn't told about?" Thanks a lot OKC.

Also wondering why on this site in particular I seem to be getting more "I'm seeing somebody" or even "I'm dating several people and not looking" responses, especially since I only run searches for the last day. If that really is the case, why are you logging in here every day? Why keep your profile visible if you aren't available? Maybe that's just the new popular brush-off, but for me at least, a simple "thanks, but no thanks" would suffice.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I could be heading out for dinner with friends, could be heading out for a date (that kind of depends on you), or could be kicking back at home, likely reading or watching a movie while laughing at the looks my dog is giving me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I share it here, its not exactly private anymore, is it?

That said, I maintain that the only way to get to something worthwhile is to be completely open and honest with each other from the get-go (anything less would just be wasting each others time), so once we're interacting I'm basically an open book.

I'm seeking quality rather than quantity. I don't have a singularly defined "type", as I can find many different types of women desirable, and truly believe its about the physical, intellectual, and emotional mix rather than any smaller set of attributes in isolation. As to where it goes, only time, and the opportunity taken will tell!
