This “quiz” reflects some of my interests: from probing life’s mysteries with another to seeking to deepen the laugh lines around my eyes and mouth; from reading children’s literature to watching romantic comedies; from playing classical pieces on the piano to listening to others play jazz; from cherishing the scientific method in its search for truth to pondering what philosophers have concluded about the nature of reality; from learning at least one new thing each day to the dream of making the world a better place.

My main interest, for the purposes of this website, is to meet a renaissance person with a broad range of interests from astronomy to art, from poetry to politics, from Bach to Broadway. Are you an optimist with a good sense of humor? If so, know that to share meals with me you’ll also like to cook! In return, I’ll do the dishes! I’m a good listener, like to support interests/hobbies, and to laugh at funny stories and humorous moments.

I’m seeking a soul mate who believes it's a magical world and is ready to go exploring!

Doing "The Hokey Pokey" with my three-year-old nephew.
According to a personal trainer, I'm really good at doing planks followed by squats against a wall! However, "The Hokey Pokey" really IS what it's all about!

I spend a lot of time thinking about
All men have stars, but they are not the same things for different people. For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems... But all these stars are silent. You-You alone will have stars as no one else has them... In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars will be laughing when you look at the sky at night..You, only you, will have stars that can laugh! And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me... You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure... It will be as if, in place of the stars, I had given you a great number of little bells that knew how to laugh”

― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

"This, too, shall pass."

E. B. White's observation that “If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy; if the world were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I wake up each morning torn between a desire to save the world and a desire to savor the world. This makes it very hard to plan the day.”
On a typical Friday night I am
At the symphony or theater, watching a movie, or having dinner with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Over thirty years ago, I got locked in the attic of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. The elevator had a problem and kept traveling upward. The attic was not as well lighted as the galleries!
