I was in the Army for 6 years and then did 2 years in the National Guard. Right now I am a student at Texas Tech studying Computer Science. I am extremely confident in just about everything I do. With all the stuff I've seen after 6 years in the Army there's not much that I come across that I can't handle. Hopefully that doesn't come off as arrogant, but that's just me. Some of my more endearing qualities are loyalty, reliability and integrity. I know a lot of people say that and then don't deliver, so if you're not sure whether or not you believe me you'll have to find out for yourself ;) lol.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm working on my MS/BS in CS. I will graduate next fall with my BS and the fall after that with my MS. After that I plan on getting my PhD. I will probably go to work at TI after that since I have interned with them the last 2 summers. If I don't do that I will start my own software company.
I’m really good at
Being smart. I'm mostly book smart though lol. I'm also very good at listening and coming up with solutions to problems. I'm a problem solver, that's part of why I'm studying to become an engineer. I also happen to be very good at teaching. I tutor Math (too many courses to list) and Computer Science in The Learning Center at Texas Tech. I love seeing it in a student's eyes when they have that AH HA! moment and some thing clicks for the first time.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently I have an accent (so I'm told).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Book: The Sword of Truth Series (the show sucked), The Malazan Book
of the Fallen series, all three of the Kushiel trilogies. TV Shows:
Big Bang Theory, SportsCenter (I don't watch much TV). Oh and I
love watching the Packers play. Unfortunately most of the time I
have to do other things.
The six things I could never do without
I hate these questions. I can never think of six things. As long as I have someone to talk to and the basic necessities of life (food, water etc) I'm just fine. Having certain things taken away makes life interesting. When I was deployed we had to come up with creative ways to entertain ourselves. Coming up with those ideas was almost as fun as doing them lol. If you're around the right people there's no way you can't keep yourself entertained and engaged.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I honestly think about the future a lot. Things I'd like to do, or accomplish and how I might accomplish them. Goals are good to have, but without a plan they're just wishes. I eventually want to get my PhD in CS, but I have to have a plan to get there. I want to go to Stanford or CMU for my PhD. For now that's the plan
On a typical Friday night I am
Studying, watching football, or hanging out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
IDK. There aren't many things I feel the need to hide. Ask me
something and I'll tell you if its private lol. 99% of the time
though I have no problem answering questions about myself.
You should message me if
You're interested in anything I've said. I always invite good
