I am introspective, open-minded, and shy.

My Self-Summary

Hello. I'm Chris, a 24-year-old college student at Georgia Tech. I decided to join in order to meet some new friends and/or something more, depending on how things develop. I'm pretty shy at first, but I'm warm and sociable around those I know.

In my spare time, I either hang out with friends around campus, kill time playing video games, or I take part in reading and/or writing (as an English major, there's a lot of that, so you have to enjoy it).

I absolutely love poker, writing, and Scrabble and am constantly working to be better at all three. My friends say that I'm already a pretty good poker player, and results indicate that I'm already a decent Scrabble player (I think), but I'm a perfectionist at heart and probably won't ever stop trying to improve.

As of late, I'm mulling over the idea of attempting to put together a stand-up comedy routine. I'd like to think that I'm decently funny around people I'm comfortable, and given the time and effort, I could probably cobble together some funny bits, but the delivery would be my downfall. When it comes to public speaking...there aren't words that can accurately describe it. It's not pretty.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently, I'm a graduating Science, Technology, & Culture major at Georgia Tech. I guess that's equivalent to an English major, but with more focus on the technological aspect of the field and how it has impacted society and the works of the era. Or something like that. I never really know how to explain it to people. Outside of school, I'm trying to write some novels. At the moment, school is getting in the way of that, as I'm trying to graduate in December, but I'm sure that once I get out, I'll have more time to write.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at listening. Also improving at poker, writing short/long stories, and conquering writer's blocks that pop up in the middle of aforementioned writing. I'm also pretty good at trying new things, though not as good as I'd like to be.

The first things people usually notice about me

I've received my fair share of compliments about my sense of humor, but I would think that people would notice physical features before they'd notice features like that. When I grow out my facial hair, people really seem to notice that (it comes in rather dark compared to the rest of my face). Also, my internal temperature is colder than most people's, so I tend to dress in long sleeves when everyone else is in shorts.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:
On Writing, Super System, The Sound and The Fury, Alas, Babylon, A Tale of Two Cities, Fahrenheit 451, The Canterbury Tales, On the Road, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Professor, The Banker, and the Suicide King, and more that I can't remember right now. I tend to gravitate more towards fictional books than non-fictional ones, although I'll read either.

Movies: A Beautiful Mind, Gangs of New York, V For Vendetta, The Departed, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, but I'll pretty much watch any kind of movie if I'm in the right mood. I'm not the biggest fan of romantic comedies, and I have to be in the right mood for a horror movie, but other than that, everything's pretty much fair game.

Music: Metallica, A Perfect Circle, Tool, Disturbed, Rammstein, Dimmu Borgir, AC/DC, System of a Down, Orgy, Children of Bodom, Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Slayer, In Flames, Slipknot, AFI, Flyleaf, Freezepop, Coheed & Cambria, The Who, Boston, anything that sounds like any of these bands, and then some. I'll listen to pretty much anything if the mood is right.

Food: I don't really have a favorite food; I'll give anything a try.

The six things I could never do without

I'm gonna go ahead and ignore the obvious joke answers (oxygen, water, all that nonsense).

My family, my friends, rainy days, time to just slow down and relax, plenty of sleep (something I'm not in lack of this summer), and my laptop (it's a lifeline during school). Material possessions can come and go (with the exception of my laptop, obviously), really.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I usually spend a lot of time thinking about the future, be it immediate or several weeks/months down the road. I also daydream a lot and about several things, usually potential short story/novel ideas. Lately I've been thinking about what I'm going to do after graduation.

On a typical Friday night I am

I could be up or down on Friday night. Hanging out with friends or relaxing at home...either/or, depending on if something comes up. I try to keep it free of homework and whatnot in case something does come up, but most of the time, I'm just chilling in my apartment with some fast food and primetime television or a movie. I'm totally down for whatever, though.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I like writing stories and random things that I know nobody will ever see. Sometimes I have crazy dreams/daydreams that would never translate well into a short story or a novel that anyone would want to read, but I still like to write them down for the sake of writing. You should try it sometime.

You should message me if

I have, for the most part, given up on OKCupid, so the best way to reach me is via AIM. CSVGT is my screenname; just let me know you're from OKC so I know who I'm talking to. If you message me though, I will see it sooner or later. Apologies in advance for the delay.

But you should message me if:

-you're close to my age. (five years or so, either direction, maybe give or take)
-you want to ask me something.
-you'd think we'd have a good conversation.
-you think we'd make a good match.
-you feel like it.

You can also message me even if none of the bullet points are true (except for the last one, otherwise that wouldn't make any sense). Who am I to stop you?
