I am passionate, quiet, and competitive.

My Self-Summary

I think I would make a kick ass starship captain, but I was born in the wrong century.

I despise rap, drive a classic (read: old) car, and listen to NPR sometimes. I'm rather unhip in that regard. Just letting you know.

I enjoy writing, movies, NFL football, PC gaming and computers in general, and a good book. I work out regularly and watch my diet. I like to run outdoors. Plus, I lift weights, which is totally hot, right? I like cheese. And chocolate-chip cookies.

PS - I live in Spring, near the Woodlands. Make a note, because proximity matters.

UPDATE - 10/26 - I just realized I don't have a THING about Monty Python on this profile. What the hell is wrong with me? KNIGHTS! Let us ride to...CAMELOT!

What I’m doing with my life

I'm the Copy Desk Chief and Editor for a sports magazine/website. I also do some writing (quite a bit, in fact) and some freelance work for other companies. I try to visit Kansas City every year. It has good barbecue, and Chiefs football.

My favorite hobby is video editing and I'd like to break into the industry in the future. I'm also an avid gamer and moviegoer. OK, I'm a nerd, whatever. But I do bathe, and don't play World of Warcraft, so that's a plus. But, sometimes I tear up during Harry Potter movies. So, yeah. NERD.

Also, big Kansas City Chiefs fan! If you're a female Chiefs fan and we have a match percentage above 80 it could be love. Smooching after touchdowns is required.

Other favorite teams: Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks. I like sports in general to be honest, I can watch just about anything if that's what you like to do. Lazy afternoon baseball games make for great dates.

Hmmm, I guess I should throw this here: I used to be a Jehovah's Witness. I dumped it shortly before I escaped to college. It kinda screwed me up, in many ways, that I won't list here. If you're interested, we can talk about it. I also love talking with other ex-JWs about their experiences, so don't hesitate if you used to be one. I'll be over here, burning my Kingdom Melodies.

Also, I used to be fat. Real fat. I'll tell you all about it.

I also was born and lived in Scotland for 11 years.

I’m really good at

Curling 50 pounds.

Preparing colorful garden salads.

Whipping up a delicious batch of scrambled eggs.

Wearing replicas of Harrison Ford's jacket from Raiders of the Lost Ark (see my photos).

Getting way too involved in football games WITHOUT the influence of alcohol.

Being carefree.

The first things people usually notice about me

I've been told I have pretty nice eyes. Thanks dad and mom for your kickass genes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

BOOKS: The Dig, Lord of the Rings, anything by Dave Barry. Michael Crichton is great, James Rollins. Right now I'm mostly into nonfiction books. I just finished a bio on Freddie Mercury. I also like retarded conspiracy theory books you find in the paranormal section.

MOVIES: The Shawshank Redemption, Heat, When Harry Met Sally, Rudy, Major League I and II, Predator, Aliens, The Matrix, Searching for Bobby Fischer, Lawrence of Arabia, Casablanca, Back to the Future, Angels in the Outfield, Blade Runner. Oh, and Star Wars. Yes, Star Wars. I tried to keep it a secret for so long, but I can't lie to you. I like Lord of the Rings and Star Trek, too. Oh Christ. Now I'm never going to get a "Woo" again. Indiana Jones is cool, though, right? RIGHT? The new one sucked, though. :(

TV: I don't watch much TV besides sports. But you should know I DO watch Star Trek reruns incessantly. I'm currently working my way through Deep Space 9.

Music: I enjoy the music of famous film-industry composers such as Alan Silvestri, James Horner, Ennio Morricone and the great Vangelis. I told you I was never going to get a "Woo" again.

I also like a variety of classic rock and classical music. Weird Al Yankovic is a hoot. I just went to an AC/DC concert in December and WOW it was amazing. Random bands I like: Queen, Styx, Aerosmith, Airbourne, Twisted Sister (lol), The Corries, Gods of War, Rammstein, Guns n Roses (Velvet Revolver blows). Hell, I even like Zamfir and showtunes. Go figure. Also, I just discovered Jerry Reed, and he is awesome.

UPDATE! I just discovered E.S. Posthumus. AMAZING!

Food: I hate mushrooms. I love European food. I adore Indian food as well as Turkish.

Plays: I like broadway musicals, and really theater in general. I dabbled in it in my youth, and sadly should have pursued it further. I'm probably a little bit gay somewhere deep inside. I saw Phantom of the Opera in July for the third time, and dearly love it.

The six things I could never do without

My computer, NFL football, my family, my cousin (he'd be my best friend even if we weren't related), my music collection. No, those are not in order.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My future, the past, missed opportunities, writing topics, when the Chiefs will win a friggin' Super Bowl.

On a typical Friday night I am

Oh boy, well I'm certainly not at a bar (but not opposed to going out to one if that's your thing). Likely I'll be at a movie or a game or eating at one of Houston's fine...uh...eating establishments. Or sittin' at my PC double-clickin' on my mizzouse! I might even be at the gym. Or eating cheese.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have a large mole on the inside of my right hip. But not too large. I mean it's not the size of an apple or anything. Or even a grape, for that matter. I mean, you could fit tons of my hip moles in a breadbox. TONS.

Also, I don't know shit about girls. Really, it's a product of my upbringing (JW). Someone's gonna have to teach me or I'm gonna end up a sad, lonely old man! :(

You should message me if

1. You like nerdy guys who, in a cruel twist of fate, are also good looking.

2. You think you can un-bore me. I'm sort of bored, so message me, and we'll plan our next caper.

3. You have a full body shot. Secret internet fatties do not amuse me.

4. You like sending the first message. I'm lazy. lol

Note - if you live in downtown Houston, I am probably not going to send you a message. That doesn't mean I'm not interested. But usually I don't feel like wasting time on sending a message to someone that lives an hour away and may not give a crap, anyway.
