My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Lived in Minnesota for most of my days, and I have to say I like it here. I've traveled a bit around the country, and even crossed the ocean several times. If I were going to live anywhere but here, I'd live in France. I studied abroad there in college, and it was the most exciting experience of my life. So much fun waking up each day and wondering if you'd be able to communicate with the people you meet (I'd only had some high school French before I went..). Currently I wake up excited to spend another day with my students - acceptable trade!

I'm very invested in my career, and it takes up a good deal of my time. I feel fortunate to have found a job that I enjoy, so when I'm putting in the long hours, it isn't too painful.

I'm a big fan of being active and doing things outside. I enjoy biking along the greenway and the chain of lakes, and occasionally go off the paved road for some trail riding. Big fan of hiking anywhere up North (save the buggiest times of year). Love swimming inside and out! And when it's cold outside, snowboarding, ice skating and snowshoeing are high on my list.

All in all I'm pretty satisfied with my life! Only one thing is missing...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a 1st grade teacher at a charter school in St. Paul. Love my job! Love the kids!

In the summer I help train new teachers, spend a few weeks on vacation (out at the lake, up north, bouncing around MPLS), and then prep for the school year starts right away in August.

Trying to clean up the planet (Go PLANET... anyone?). And trying to help create an equitable society.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Showing up to places on time.
Letting my passions get the best of me.
Going back in the house 10 times before leaving because I can't seem to remember everything all at once.
Searching for sunglasses that are on my head.
Answering questions that I've already answered numerous times.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well I've never asked and never been told... I have dimples?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Anything I've ever read in an English or Psychology class, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, non-fiction books on sociology and education.

Movies: Inception, Amile, Stranger Than Fiction, High Fidelity, V for Vendetta, Hors de Prix, L'aberge Espanol, Crazy Stupid Love.

Music: Honestly all kinds except spiritual and most country.

Food: Love me some fruits and veggies. Mostly eat healthy during the week, and fall to pieces on the weekend. I can't help it, I'm a sucker for a good eggs benedict.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order...

1. Technology - iPhone and Mac (I've actually heard that there are centers popping up now, to help people with addictions to technology... I'm not there yet, but it's nice to know help is out there).

2. Kids (none of my own yet).

3. Relationships of all kinds with others.

4. Natural places.

5. Laughter.

6. The ability to edit parts of my profile I thought were cute or humorous a week ago, but really aren't...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Sociology.

What amazing things I could have said but didn't in situations that have long since passed.

Why it seems I insist on cocking my head left or right in almost all my photos...

How to be a better teacher - my students.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Getting together with friends for a night in or out, or taking a break and staying in - frequently the former.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The sound of a liquid being poured into a glass really irks me...

You're down for some adventures here in our neck of the woods and elsewhere. You're looking for a something meaningful and lasting. You laugh often, and occasionally at yourself. You've got some things figured out, but not everything.
