My self-summary
A few years back I moved from the Las Vegas, Nevada area to the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin. Since I'm mildly socially retarded, I haven't made too many close friendships since moving, which can suck at times.

I write fantasy and science fiction and spend far too much time roleplaying. When I venture outside, I tend to enjoy hiking and gardening and generally running amuck. Someday, I hope to hike the Appalachian Trail. I'm rather sardonic and have the bad habit of playing Devil's advocate no matter what's being discussed. If I really like someone I'll argue with him, because I know he can take it.

I've found that having different views from someone doesn't really get in the way of friendship. Having similar goals and compatible lifestyles seems to matter so much more. I guess I'd call myself a social liberal, though I might sometimes argue from a conservative point of view just to mess with people's heads. I probably have more in common with a sort of...friendly anarchy than either major political party in the US.

I am silly, brilliant, and sadistic
What I’m doing with my life
Writing, editing other people's writing, trying to figure out where I want to spend the rest of my life.
I’m really good at
Did I mention writing? I consider myself to be a fairly brilliant cook. Indian and Mexican food tend to be what I do best, though I'm pretty handy with creme puffs and puddings. I'm pretty into theatre, too, and founded the Student Theatre Association at my college. And then had the honor of our very first production being banned.

Then we put it on in the parking lot and ate cake.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair. It's fluffy and red.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(A) Rather than books, which are all too brief, let's try authors: Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling, Gregory Maguire, Kurt Vonnegut, Susie Bright, George Orwell, Anthony Burgess, Ernest Hemingway, William Shakespeare, Norah Vincent, Germaine Greer, Desmond Morris, Chuck Palahniuk, Vladimir Nabokov.

(B) Y Tu Mamá También, Sin City, Life as a House, The Peace Fish, Shortbus, Crash, Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

(C) Somehow, I'd been under the impression that I only had 44 hours worth of music. Now, iTunes informs me it's actually 6.7 days. So, just the bands and artists I've actually listened to recently: 3 Doors Down, 30 Seconds to Mars, Adam Cohen, Aimee Mann, Akira Yamaoka, Alanis Morissette, Alien Ant Farm, Alison Krauss, Amal Murkus, Ambulance, Ltd., Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Azam Ali, Bear McCreary, The Beatles, Better Than Ezra, Billy Joel, Black Eyed Peas, Black Lab, Black Sabbath, Blachmore's Night, Blink 182, Blue Man Group, Bob Seger, Breaking Benjamin, Brian Tyler, Britney Spears, Bush, Carly Simon, Caroline's Spine, Cat Stevens, Christina Aguilera, Clash, Coldplay, Crash Test Dummies, Dana Fuchs, Danzig, Darren Hayes, Dave Matthews Band, David Bowie, Deine Lakaien, Delerium, Denez Prigent, Depeche Mode, Dido, Disturbed, Dropkick Murphys, Drowning Pool, Eddie Izzard, Ego Likeness, Elton John, Emiliana Torrini, Etti Ankri, Eva Trout, Evan Rachel Wood, Fastball, Filter, The Flaming Lips, Flogging Molly, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, Frontline Assembly, Fuel, Future Bible Heroes, Garbage, The Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, Gorillaz, Green Day, Guided by Voices, Incubus, Jeff Buckley, Jimmy Eat World, John Fogerty, Johnny Cash, Josh Groban, Justin Timberlake, Kidney Thieves, The Killers, Kim Robertson, KMFDM, Ladysmih Black Mambazo, Led Zeplin, Less Than Jake, Lisp, Live, Loreena McKennitt, Lou Reed, Machines of Living Grace, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Massive Attack, Matchbox Twenty, Midnight Oil, Mindless Self Indulgence, Muse, Mx Px, My Chemical Romance, Nellie McKay, Nick Cave, NIN, Offspring, Orgy, Over the Rhine, Paul Simon, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Powerman 5000, Primitive Radio Gods, Prodigy, Puscifer, R.E.M., Radiohead, The Refreshments, Rufus Wainwright, Santana, Savage Garden, Scissor Sisters, The Secret Machines, Shriekback, Simple Plan, Snow Patrol, System of a Down, Theatre of Tragedy, Thelonius Monk, Thom Yorke, Tom Petty, Tori Amos, Type O Negative, U2, The Verve, Vienna Teng, Violent Femmes, Voltaire, Wheatus, White Stripes, The Who.

(D) There are few foods I actively dislike. Things that are bland and mushy generally don't appeal much, otherwise I love trying new things.
The six things I could never do without
I know I should put something clever in here that allows you to understand just what kind of person I am and what makes me tick, but I seriously can't think of a single thing (aside from the basics of survival) that I couldn't do without. So long as I have my own mind, I'm pretty much set to go. Having something to write with and a person to talk to would be a pleasant bonus.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The impending zombie apocalypse.

Or how a body could instantaneously disappear using WWII technology (would a direct artillery shell hit do it? Hmmmm).

Or the Chinese room argument.

Or lots of other random, weird things.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting at home, most likely. I may be roleplaying or reading or watching a movie, but while I like going out well enough, I'm not the type to go wander bars alone. Like I said above, I haven't been too great at socializing since I moved.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Anything I post on the Internet with my face and location attached to it is pretty much the antithesis of private.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 25–46
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
You have something interesting to say and can handle the occasional (or not so occasional) bizarre conversation. If hypothetical questions are your idea of a good time. If you like to sing along to the radio and make up stories about every random thing you see. If every day you're alive has the potential for turning into a ridiculous adventure and some of your best times have been had while lost in a strange city.

DON'T message me if:

A) You're just looking to get laid.
B) Your profile is full of misspellings, all lower case or all upper case letters, or barely filled out at all. I'm an editor and it makes me cry.
C) You're going to nag me about something in my profile as if one message from you will make me change who I am. What the hell, buddy?
