Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a huge bookworm and public policy nerd. I love to read
economics and politics blogs and will discuss them at length at the
slightest provocation. I'm the kind of person who has serious
opinions on the use of words like "socialism" and "communism," and
who has no problem getting into discussions at bars about it.
Relatedly, I'm a huge bar trivia fan, but I haven't found a place
in NYC yet so hit me up if you want to go!
I teach special ed and economics in the Bronx. Eventually I'm going
to go after that PhD, but for now I'm happy trying to trick my kids
into learning something while telling jokes only I think are funny
(I'm really good at that).
I used to do a lot of dancing, swing and ballroom mostly, and I'm
looking to get back into it after a knee injury related
INTJ, if that means anything to you (I may have a slight addiction
to personality quizzes) (and parenthetical asides)
I'm also a serial comma abuser. It's a disease.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching and learning.
The only thing that really motivates me is the desire to be one of
the people the government saves in the event of a nuclear
holocaust. That, and eating.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Reading, references to obscure books and movies, trivia contests,
sarcasm, sales math, teacher stares
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm laughing or smiling to myself (one of the many dangers of
listening to stand-up constantly)
Or maybe my prodigious resting bitch face. I'm nicer than I look, I
I just realized how incongruous those two things are. Someone will
have to tell me which seems more true. Or maybe I'm secretly Janus.
(If you get that reference without Google please message me
immediately, because I may love you) (p.s. It's not from mean

I love LOTR, any books on linguistic anthrology, hp, trashy romance
novels, books on costume designing, Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering
Heights, the annotated Jane Austen books, and books on human
rights- especially a Problem from Hell.
I'm not a huge cinephile but I do like the BBC pride and prejudice,
easy a, zombieland, clueless, 10 things I hate about you, lotr,
serenity, and Disney movies.
I'm a huge fan of Rachel Maddow, Jon Stewart,
and John Oliver! They are 95% of my news every day. I like to watch
Archer, Adventure Time, Buffy, Firefly, Brooklyn 99, and anything
else that seems interesting or funny.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books, bourbon, the Rachel Maddow show, standup comedy, video
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Alternate or expanded endings to books I've read. Creative ways to
teach boring material. How to motivate myself to keep training when
I'm having a lazy day and cheesecake is beckoning me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Curled up with a good book until it's time to hit the bars, or
curled up with a great book refusing to leave
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I read jstor articles for fun.
Also, my socks are always patterned but never match

You like obscure references to books and movies, your idea of good
conversation involves a debate of some kind, or you like beer and
sarcasm. Or if you saw me checking out you profile because that
probably means I want to talk but am trying (and failing) to think
of something clever
