Hi there! My name's Chris, and I'm a 31 year old game-developer/ jack of all trades tech guy who maybe also moonlights as a commercial real estate analyst and web developer guy. I grew up in Oakland, went to Berkeley, now I live by the lake and go to the gym a bunch.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working in game development, and I love it, but my fall back plan is to design and develop less-enjoyable software if that doesn't work out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Tough question, here are a few good eats I couldn't go without
1) Torpedo Sushi
2) Bakesale Betty's
3) Donut Savant (I regularly bribe people with Cronuts and more recently, their apple pie donuts, which are pretty great)
4) Hunan ( in the city, because Hot & Sour Soup + Ginger Ale or Sprite cures all ailments)
5) Naan and Curry on college in Berkeley
6) Farmer and her Cook in old Oakland- healthy good
7) Zuni Cafe
7) Zachary's deep dish pizza
8) That one food truck I haven't found yet
I don't watch a lot of TV, but cartoons and animation are my jam, and anything in this new as yet unnamed VR or interactive film genre is super relevant. Adventure Time, Rick and Morty, recently Archer and BoJack Horseman. I grew up on the Simpsons, don't get me started. Also I watch a bunch on Youtube; Scishow, Vice, Vsauce, Wired, Colin Furze to name a few.
I listen to pretty much everything- always everything 80s, Thievery Corporation is always awesome. I grew up on The Beatles. Pandora all day everyday. I grew up with NPR, Invisibila was a recent favorite,
Radiotopia is great!
I don't read as much non-work related stuff as I used to, but have been reading the best American series. A whole bunch of critical theory in college. Love a good essay, investigative piece, and good science writing. The Information by James Gleick was pretty great, Watchmen is still my favorite graphic novel of all time. Love Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut.
As native to Twitter as anyone could (or should) be.
The six things I could never do without
Phone, sketchpad or notebook to write in, a mechanical pencil or sharpie to write or draw with, my laptop, sunglasses, this year's version of my lucky jacket.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I like solving problems, making things, and figuring stuff out, so I spend a lot of time thinking about that and whatever's next. Not as much as I used to, but I wonder about the world and the news alot. I think of how to say things better on twitter, or pitch crazy schemes or ideas at work or elsewhere quite a bit.
On a typical Friday night I am
I really like going out... But so many of my friends are married or too lame to go out or have moved too far away to really do anything, so it's all been in flux recently. First Fridays are great! I guess I don't have a typical Friday night anymore.
You should message me if
You want to know more, are up to go a museum sometime, think you can keep up with me, or have a hunch we might get along?
