My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I have a lot of interests but they all fall under the umbrella of exploring the world and having as many rewarding and varied experiences as I can before I die. I travel and move around quite a bit and one of my flaws might be not being able to stay in one place for too long- although I have at times demonstrated capability in the area of the long-term-hetero-monagamous relationship. I studied Literature at University. I still like to write and read quite a bit, but since then I've done dozens of different things in different parts of the world. I worked at sea for a number or years on different ships. I enjoy sailing, and most kinds adventure for that matter, physical and otherwise. I'm working on developing my sailing skills and plan to one day be able to do a circumnavigation. I enjoy the outdoors- camping and hiking. I like helping people and getting to know people who are very different from me, so I've worked with mentally handicapped children numerous times. I've also taught English overseas for a few years in Prague and Seoul. Lived in a lot of other places- Maine, Alaska, Asheville, L.A., Ohio- where I grew up, Wisconsin, New Orleans, New York. The past couple years I've been focusing on learning small-scale-organic farming. A few years back I spent the better part of that year converting an old school bus to run on veggie oil and renovating it into a really beautiful living space. I hope to one day soon build my own really well-crafted and unique house.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
At present and over the past couple years I've been focusing on learning and practicing small-scale-organic farming and gardening.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Things I know how to do: Preparing an appetizing and nutritious meal. Ride a motorcycle. Write a poem. Sail. Tie a lot of different knots. Have a good time- even in some of the most dire places with some of sourest stuffed shirts and wooden shoes. Dance- passably. Brew beer. Offer intelligent opinions on art, literature and film- from the Dadaists to Sufi Poetry, to the french new wave- the frivolous and the heavy and everything in-between. Taking care of animals and growing food. Hotwire a car. Open a locked door without a key. (Tho I'm not a criminal, I'm just really good at the previous two things b/c I'm bad at having my keys with me when I should.) Act like a gentleman. Helping people that need it. Being a loyal friend. Being funny, flippant, ironic, sincere, irreverent, cynical and maudlin where appropriate. Appreciating people. Bicycling. Fixing broken mechanical things like cars. Build things. Decent writer. Decent carpenter.
The first things people usually notice about me

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
At some time in my life I've pretty much done without just about everything for some length of time, other than, of course the essentials- food, water, oxygen, etc...... I've kicked most of the addictions of my youth except really great coffee I always have around. (Not that any of those youthful addictions were, like, crippling, or of the that's too much baggage for me, you should write an inspirational-triumph-over-the-dark-night-of-the-soul-type memoir. More the youthful exuberance type.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Ways to take myself less seriously. No, kidding- got that covered. And lately- apophatic theology.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Not doing anything that I can really brag about, which is why I am here, writing all this stuff.
