My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I’m down with writing bios, but I can never think of a good opening sentence. now that THAT'S out of the way...

I was raised a country bumpkin, but fled to Ottawa to escape the claustrophobia/conservatism of small-town life and do the university thing. Now, a decade later, it's home.

I’m a researcher/writer by day, a musician by night, and avocado lover at all times. I like talking, reading, joking, live music, climbing trees and conversing with my roomate's cat (it humours me by pretending to listen). I'm sometimes active, sometimes lazy. I like to joke around.

I dislike canned tuna and bigots.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
In my spare time, I'm often found reading, making music, thinking about outer space, people-watching, wandering about or scowling at jerks at the gym.

In my not-so-spare time, I research, edit, write, and look for my frequently misplaced pens.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Jenga, getting along with people (who aren't racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.), being goofy, cooking breakfast, forgetting my keys.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm often described as a cartoon character... so, possibly something related to that?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: stuff by Kurt Vonnegut, Mary Roach, Bill Bryson, Ursula K. Le Guin, David Sedaris, Hunter S. Thompson, Arthur C. Clarke, Kim Stanley Robinson. I tend to exhaust authors' works before moving on to the next.

Movies: Mad Max: Fury Road, Mood Indigo, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 12 Monkeys, Punch Drunk Love, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Evil Dead 2, Alien, The Room, Birdman.

Music: rock stuff (Nirvana, QOTSA, Sonic Youth), weird stuff (The Residents, Secret Chiefs, Ween), old stuff (France Gall, Captain Beefheart, Django Reinhardt), pop stuff (Daft Punk, MIA, Little Dragon), other stuff.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Sun, musical instruments, thinking time, wine, laughs, and good water pressure.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The things animals do when people aren't around.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out with friends, having a beer (typically both) ...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
... that I actually thought hard about this question.
