i am a nomad. i can't plant my feet in any one place long enough to grow roots, or i just don't want to yet. i grew up in a small coastal town in New England. It's a little more crowded every time i go back.

i work on the water, and spend most of my free time on, around, or in it. i like to get out of the city a lot. Tends to be to where the ocean meets the land. i make friends all over, but i guess i'm selective. i think i'm a good friend to have.

i grew up playing the drums, but have sort of lost touch with that part of my life. i miss it, and will ask anyone who has a kit if i can play it. Music means a lot to me. i like tools of all kinds, and i like working with my hands. i like interesting, and creative types, artists, musicians, motivated, or inspired, people who live in the moment. i'm usually annoyed with people with no situational awareness.

Just trying to stay afloat (literally, and figuratively).

Working hard, to play harder, eating like a king, drinking like a sailor, swimming like a fish, flying like a bird, laying like a log.

i didn't go to school, but managed to find a way to make plenty of money to get by, while doing things i live to do, and would probably be paying to do if i wasn't getting payed to do them.

i spend the summertime in Alaska, where i work on a fishing boat, and make the most of my days ashore exploring the mountains, rivers, towns, villages, and beaches, under 20 hours of sunlight. i eat my weight in salmon, and try all kinds of wild game that friends are always offering. i have an early 70's school bus there, that somebody turned into a camper. i live in it while I'm there, but I don't eat the berries. i'm workin on making it my alaska tour-bus. i wanna buy a lot with a view to park it on while i build my dream house. For now it lives at a fish camp, surrounded by other other campers, a fire pit, horseshoe pits, and a seemingly endless gathering of good people, who come from all over, eating fresh fish, drinking like fish, and telling fish tales. In late August, it's like someone flips a switch, and they're all gone, it starts getting colder, and darker. i'd like to stay a winter sometime, but i'd need somebody to stay with me, and keep me warm.

San Francisco is my home base for now. i leave for months at a time for work, or travel. When I'm there, i like to try new restaurants, drink at my favorite dives, to west Marin, Sonoma, or Mendo to camp sleep in the back of my truck, hike, surf, kayak, dive, and soak up the slow.
Lots of weekend trips to Santa Cruz, to surf, and see friends. Or if it's dumping in the mountains, i could be getting some use out of my 4wd, headed to Truckee.

i'm serious about not taking life too seriously.

Working with my hands, daydreaming, forgetting to feed the meter, driving too fast, reading maps, cooking, kissing, joking, playing the drums, eating, drinking, tipping, not following rules, finding the spot, giving you a massage, driving too fast, using bad words, exploring, fishing, running a boat, exploring, kissing, breaking stuff, fixing stuff, ummm speeding......

Update:

Lately, I've been getting a lot of comments on my beard. It's almost annoying, but mostly because it's usually from drunk guys, who feel the need to tell me "dude, rad beard man", or something to that effect, while pissing in the urinal beside me. I would say from women, I get more comments on my eyes.

Ward, Iron and Wine, Wilco, Bon Iver, David Bowie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Mars Volta, Primus, the list could go on n on. i like it LOUD, rock, reggae, jazz, electric, funk, punk, blues, folk, there's music for every mood, I just never seem to be in a country, or western mood, unless of course I'm driving coast to coast in a pick-up, with no A/C and the tape deck's busted, and I'm stuck with radio, and the closest thing to NPR is NRA, and it's the only thing other than god talk

i'm a carnivore (Vegans need not apply), and i like mine on the rare side, please... i Loves me some seafood, grilled, baked, fried, whateva, i can't eat sushi often enough, and if i had a bottomless bank account, i'd eat at my favorite sushi joints every day, no joke. Big bonus points, if you know what a Churrascaria is. if you like to eat at them as much as i do, you could be my new best friend. i guess in a perfect world, i'd have to ro-sham-bo it out with between sushi, and Brazilian, everyday, gotta have my coffee Heathbar crunch, chocolate, crepes, moms apple pie, like i said, as long as it ain't curry.
